I Can't Hold It
3D Render by RedSpartan(Continued on from 'The Flood')
‘Someone blew up the water storage tanks!’ Shanna screamed over the noise, raising her rifle towards the Beast which was itself struggling in the deluge to gain a strong enough footing to push the door with its full strength.
‘Someone?’ Mya managed to think over the cacophony of the rushing liquid that now poured through the narrow opening.
Shaana knelt, steadfast and resolute in the in the deluge, aiming carefully at the monster in the doorway. What the hell was she waiting for?
‘I can’t hold it!’ Mya screamed, ‘Shoot it.’
Just then the Beast roared, its mouth opened in full furious rage as it pummelled the door with its heavy shoulder. The door began to give way and Mya felt her feet slipping. She looked at the far tunnel section, beyond the next doorway. They’d never make it, not with this volume of water surging at their feet, the damn thing would be on them in moments. Suddenly Shaana fired, a single shot that went straight through the Beast’s mouth and exploded in a spray of gory matter out the back of its skull. The impact snapped its head backwards and it fell into the corridor behind it. With it’s weight against the door now gone Mya managed to get it quickly closed against the deluge and in one swift movement threw the locking bar down and sealed it.
The sound of water hitting the door from the other side drowned out her heavy breathing. The liquid at their feet settled, then began to flow away through an unseen drainage point. The noise abated, the space beyond the door clearly filling up with water. If the bullet hadn’t killed it it would now surely drown, she thought to herself, looking at Shaana once more as calm descended.
‘You hesitated?’ She said, questioningly, beginning to feel a chill from the icy water that had nearly engulfed them.
The girl looked down at the rifle in her hands, then stood slowly.
‘Only had one bullet left,’ she answered simply, without emotion, turning to look at her, ‘had to make it count.’
Mya smiled, she couldn’t help herself, but managed to suppress a laugh.
‘Well, shit!’ was all she could think of to say. That Shaana had had the presence of mind to hold her position firmly against the torrent of water and aim so precisely spoke volumes about her resolute strength of character.
Shaana formed a slight grin, as if conceding a friendly expression was an effort, then turned her head again and looked at the bulkhead door, now firmly closed but barring their way to what had been her preferred exit.
‘We’ll have to go through the sewer.’ She said quietly, ‘It’s the only way out now.’
She gripped her gun tightly. Without ammunition it was now pretty useless, but it was clear she wasn’t going to give it up just yet.
‘It’ll take us to the Red Zone, which is way on the other side of the facility. We’ll have to traverse the perimeter to get to my home. It’s quite thick jungle, but we should make it ok once we get out of the cave.’
‘Cave?’ Mya queried, getting to her feet and recovering her own weapon.
‘At the end of the sewer.’ Shaana explained, ‘The waste from this place drained out into a natural underground reservoir. They built an access point there that will take us outside.’
‘And Red Zone?’ she enquired.
‘You’ll see.’ The girl answered simply.
Mya hid her annoyance at Shaana’s cryptic answer, turned to the door and stared at it for a moment.
‘And who the fuck just blew up the water tanks?’ She asked, puzzled and concerned.
‘To that question,’ Shaana began, a hint of fear in her voice, ‘I have no answer.’
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I never normally repeat an idea for a picture if the first one was any good, such as 'The Flood' (they always seem to come up short on quality), but I was so pleased with how the water turned out in that one that I just had to have another go. I personally think I improved on the last one so I'm quite happy to post this image as a continuance to the story.
Thanks as always for looking
Thanks

Mon, Jun 02That's kind of you, thanks. I'm not the greatest of writers but I felt like attempting an ongoing narrative with these pictures. I've got quite a bit of unrelated stuff I'd like to post at some point.
Very Good Atmosphere i like the monster and the helmet it wears (cough what assets?)
Like the Dynamic and then read the story and it makes it even better.

Tue, Jun 03Thanks. The helmet is from Subject 01 HD Morph for Genesis 9 by daveyabbo at Daz.
Nicely composed action scene! The lighting is well done, and really brings things to life.
