Scene - Dead Red Shirt.

The landing was smooth enough. Pilot Anders made sure of that, a seasoned shuttle jockey. The rest of the crew barely noticed the shuttle kissing the surface. But smooth flying aside this was supposed to be nothing more than yet another boring mineral cataloging jaunt on yet another hot and arrid rock of a planet.

They were already half way through their scans. This was just as it looked from space 'a rock' Scanners did not pick up any indigenous life.

What happened next caught them totally off guard. It happened fast almost like someone had hit fast forward on one of those old DVD antique disks that Ensign forest was so fond of collecting. Shame as I really liked her.

But this thing. This green entity, just came out of nowhere and immediately started heading for her cutting her down where she stood. Ensign Forest wasn't even able to scream out, She just literally melted where she stood when it lashed out at her. where it touched her, flesh just began to dissolve evaporating away and the effect just expanded over her entire body.
Before any of us could even react.

The entity then turned lashing out at Anders catching her and knocking her backwards into the arms of Medical officer Patterson. The sudden weight of Anders landing in Pattersons outstretched arms knocked her off her feet and onto her arse still holding Anders, or what was now left of her.

Not dying here today. I am not dying on this forsaken rock today. Now focused and able to stop her mind reeling from the affront that had just happened. Training kicked in Phasor in hand, highest setting, aim. Fire. Continuing sustained fire at that horror.

No effect. The damned phasor had no effect other than make it splash more of that green gunk everywhere.

The entity was now just yards away now from Patterson who was still holding what remained of Anders. Patterson closes her eyes not wanting to see the end now coming....

Dead red shirts. I thought that was an academy myth meant to scare rookie cadets. Not this horror reality that was unfurling before her as the entity now turned its attention to the last red shirt officer.....
