We barely can find it, and what we used to have has been mostly taken by, I guess you can call them, colonizers. That said, amber in market is not the most reliable source since you can't confirm where they get it. It's best to go into shops outside of old town Riga. So other areas, shops and so on. A good rule of thumb is this - raw shaped amber is cheapest. Especially if small in size. If the amber is shaped that means a lot of the material has been shaved from bigger stones so they will cost way more. And anything that has sterling silver on it is gonna triple in price.

I wish I could visit Riga again, but it don't look like it for the near future. I was there, hoping to visit the art museum. Unfortunately it was closed due to renovations.

Yeah that sucks. But I think Riga barely scratches anything compared to what the rest of the country has to offer. Sigulda is much more rich in culture. But the national park there is the best part. Then there are the wetlands, the cliffs. I'm sure you have it in Norway too though. That and the mountains and the fjords - which we flatlanders don't. T_T But at least 10 percent of our land is wetlands. And we got beavers. And potatoes. *sigh*
