90s Plastic Princess
3D Render by Caterina 3DFor this project I started designing a Princess gown with a layered skirt, an heart shaped corset and voluminous sleeves but suddenly I had a nostalgic epiphany: I remembered the coloured plastic of the 90's early 2000s and decided to completely transform the dress!
I converted the sleeves, corset and "over skirt" into this transparent plastic that has a subtle rainbow tint that shows depending on how the light hits it.
Then I shortened the layered skirt and converted it in this Holographic material, and finally I added a light mint strapless bra to cover the private bits.
The end result is this dress that, in his shapes, nods at the Harajuku fashion and in his materials and textures recalls some futuristic sci-fi movies.
Definitely a dress I would have died for in my childhood, probably a dress that could be wear by some videogames character.
The dress was made using CLO3D and Marvelous Designer, it was textured using Substance Painter and rendered in Blender (Cycles engine).
The only post- render modification made (with Krita) are the adding of the white-ish background in the sideview, backview and the wireframe image, since I rendered everything with a transparent background.
The shoes and the model are from the CLO3D asset library. (I decided not to texture the shoes since I wanted to keep all the focus on the dress)
