Name That Song September 2025
3D Render by maru_berlinAfter the last and rather difficult one (Bydlo from Mussorgsky's Pictures At An Exhibition), again an oldie (gosh, do I only remember old songs - memo to myself: try to find a more recent song for the next challenge).
As the previous song, the later cover version speaks more to me, than the original version. But this time, you need to set your time-travel-machine only 47 years back.
Speaking of traveling: though the first version really was a "first" (and according to sources the songwriter used a rhyming dictionary to depict his life) and came from the US, my favourite version - released only 5 years later - was perfomed by a British band.
Though the scene rather shows the end of a .... uhmmmm.... life ? the song really is about coming of age.
(Used Raw Art's Golden Ticket Garadula and a wee bit of Photoshop, LIGHTING fx with Boris FX Optics).

Tue, Sep 02Thank you - still not happy with the effect, but better than the first one I tried.
Given by the time stamps, it can only be the one and only from America, covered 5 years later be the band from England.
The first one has a doubleganger still singing today
(or is it himself, still alive, who knows *gg*)

Tue, Sep 02Well, he's definitely alive and had concerts this year. I don't think you're talking about Tilda Swinton ;D
So, looks like you are on the right track (and would be the winner because you're the first one). Sorry, no prices though.

Tue, Sep 02Tilda who?
Sorry, but never heard that name.
But it seems, we're talking about 2 different people.
The first is official dead, rumors have it, that he's alive and singing in a church

Wed, Sep 03@B Misfits:
Tilda Swinton is a Scottish actress who often appears in experimental, arthouse, and generally off-mainstream films (which is why I love her
Her appearance is often described as androgynous beauty. I first really noticed her in the film " Constantine " (with Keanu Reeves). Her role in " Snowpiercer " also left a lasting impression

Wild one here, man. I like it! The only suggestion would be to make the stringy goo in his mouth to be more goopy and wet. You have a great imagination.

It's the end of the World as we know it (and I feel fine).

Wed, Sep 03Thanks for your suggesions for the image and the song. Again, your song idea is an interesting one, but the song in question is much closer to the image (at least I think so).
The color scheme and the way Count Orlok fades away reminds me of Kathryn Bigelow's " Near Dark ". It's a kind of vampire road movie - and the music (or at least the title track) is by " Tangerine Dream ". But I don't think anyone has covered this music.
PasahRi (not me, but him
wants me to ask if this has anything to do with Bauhaus. But I think that would be too obvious (especially since there's no cover version of it. Or is there?))
Last but not least: " Summertime " (just the right season for vampires

Wed, Sep 03Wow, Tangerine Dream. THAT brings back memories. Distant memories, actually.
But unfortunately just as distant as your suggestions to what we look for this month. Though "Summertime - and dissolving is easy" is quite catchy.
