From September 15 to October 31, 2025, Thomas Needham completed the rituals required by his infernal contract. He signed in blood. He lit candles. He consulted his electric crystal orb. He trusted a loophole that he believed would save him. The contract contained a clause promising redemption if a portion of his winnings was donated to charity. Seeing the numbers in the orb and certain he could balance damnation with generosity, he devised his plan. He would play thirteen sets of numbers. One would match the winning sequence. Each of the other twelve would be five out of six correct. With the multiplier, each would be worth two million dollars. He would win the Jackpot and an additional twenty-four million. He would give a portion of the extra funds to some charity. It didn't matter which. He would buy his redemption. He smiled at his own cleverness.
Ah—greed is so impatient.
The consequence of greed is most patient.
At 1 p.m. on October 31, he rushed to buy his ticket. He forgot to check if it belonged to the correct lottery for that night’s draw. The smaller font, shifted by his added numbers, hid the truth: he had purchased for November 1.
All the right numbers.
The wrong lotto.
It's October 31, 11:59pm. The candles burn low. The cell phone glows with the actual winning numbers. Thomas sweats in the horror of his mistakes.
