The face is an oxidized battlefield. It is not a mask; it is the map of an internal collapse.
Every plate, every shard of broken color that blinds one eye and covers the skin, is a piece of what was once the soul and reason.

Depression is not just sadness; it is the breakdown of structure. It is feeling your inner world, carefully assembled with logic and purpose, crumble into cruel, uneven crumbs. It is the dull ache of despair, dripping like blood and rust from the corners of the mouth.

Look at the blue cubes, those fragments of something cold and alien that float. They are residual thoughts, the last vestiges of sanity that can no longer be anchored. They have been freed from the head, but not as a liberation, but as an evaporation. They are promises, memories, or perhaps goals that dissolve into the void, unable to form a coherent whole again.

The remaining eye, the gray, open eye, observes without understanding; it is consciousness trapped in a body that refuses to heal, a powerless spectator of its own slow disintegration. In this despair, life does not stop, but transforms into an incomplete and painful mosaic, where each fragment only recalls the beauty and logic of the pattern that was lost forever. And in the silence of that face, only the echo of the question resonates: How do you rebuild something when even the glue has turned to rust?

As an artist, my work "The Broken Mosaic of Reason" emerges from a deep need to visualize the impact of depression and despair. I wanted to capture that feeling of life and reason fragmenting into pieces, leaving the soul like a broken, rusted metal face. Every shard in this portrait is a silent scream, a manifestation of how thoughts and one's very identity can disintegrate. I hope that by contemplating it, a space for reflection and empathy will be created for those who are navigating these internal battles.
