Battle-Mage Maelise
3D Render by EMProjectIt has been a little bit since I last entered in a contest. Since my last entry, I had a massive data loss from a hard drive failure, resulting in the loss 2 tb of data. Handmade assets, whole characters and several locations that I was making for a story that I wrote, blip just gone.
I'm over it now but it was such a brutal blow. The silver lining, was that I've always wanted to do more stylistic artwork. Striking colors and harsh shadows, so for this piece, its kind of a vertical slice of what I want to make.
For the look, the Kuwahara filter does alot of lifting, so the design of the character and background had to keep that in mind. Small details would be lost in the smears. So I had to look at the character with large brush strokes. How would specific detail look under these conditions or would it even show up? Just being different it was fun to make.
I'd recommend right clicking and viewing image in another tab. The render is 5120 x 7680
Modeled/Rendered in Blender, Textured in Substance Painter, and Finished in Affinity Photo.
