I've mostly been ignoring the dforce feature in Daz Studio, but your posts are showing me the GRAVITY:-D of the effect my neglect is having on potential digital artwork creation

You can do a lot of things with dForce (including some that may not be in line with DAZ's intentions). The problem is that many 3D objects with dForce enabled can only be used in the conventional (aka mainstream) way because they have too many fiddly bits (folds, hems, pockets, buttons, appliqués, etc., etc., etc.).
For my more extreme dForce objects, I therefore dispense with everything unnecessary. This makes the objects very simple... but at the same time very flexible.
