"The red emergency light pulsed like a tired heart, deep underground, where the world still breathed but had long since stopped living. Concrete walls sweated history, metal reeked of dust, oil, and broken promises. Somewhere, machinery hummed, as if it were keeping time itself alive.
She sat there, casual and dangerous all at once, her boots propped up like the bunker belonged to her. One hand gripped the receiver, the other rested—far too casually—on the edge of the table. Lips red as warning signals, glasses sharp as her stare. When she spoke, it wasn’t to ask questions. It was to give orders.
On the wall, the propaganda poster grinned its lying smile: Surface – Never. Vault – Forever. Old slogans for a new kind of hell. The coffee in the mug had gone cold, the Nuka bottle’s neck gleamed in the emergency light, and on her wrist a Pip-Boy blinked, knowing more than was good for anyone........."
