They would make sure that they were not involved themselves and were not above 'sub-contracting' work, and not all the hired helpers were male. One of the best was known as the Dark Shepherdess. Always guiding her docile sheep to their final resting place with grace and stealth. There was never anything personal, it was all business. Her next assignment could always be the one currently paying for her talents, she had no favourites or specific allegiances. Just make sure that to pay on time and the agreed amount or it would suddenly become very personal indeed, and not so quiet.
