3D Render by maru_berlinAssociated with an aphrodisiac, though literally meaning "beautiful woman", the berries themselves are rather poisonous, but contain Atropin (amongst other things), which enlarges eyes which, sometime in the past, ....ehemmmm... made women look more beautiful. Still, there are medical uses in ophthalmology. But I'd stick with the literal meaning.
In High School, my best buddy decided 'Bella Donna' would be a good high. There was a high content in some 'over the counter' med you could buy at a Pharmacy, He swallowed abut 10x the recommended dosage.
Yep, he was a fruit loop, basket case for over 24 hours. Incoherent and so out of it his parents busted him immediately upon finding him sitting naked in the hallway talking to a room full of friendly spiders he had just met. That stuff is poison at a certain toxicity level. I am guessing he dodged a much more serious problem than being grounded for, oh say, ever.
