Attack of the 50-Foot Wiener
3D Render by millerblaineObviously, pulp/retro horror-sci-fi inspired. I contemplated using a kitten, but thought the title may push boundaries (use your imagination for that one). I did the renders in two passes due to scaling issues associated with hair. If I scale the dog up, the hairs spread out and are very small. If I scale the set down, it gets very flaky to work with. So I did one master scene, then created 2 spinoffs, attaching everything in the scene to a cylinder (though any shape would have worked). By everything, I mean including the camera, then scaled the cylinder. This kept everything proportionate and framed. Blah, blah, blah. Technically, it was 3 renders. The sky was a an additional pass of an empty scene with just the dome/HDRI visible. Compositing, retouching, paint effects, blurs and distressing were done in Photoshop. Topaz sharpening and denoising were used as plugins for Photoshop, as were some Retouch4me plugins.
Anyway, it's a gigantic wiener. I'd hate to follow that thing around with a scooper and a plastic bag.

Ahh yes... a kitty might have sent the strange alternate meaning. It turned out perfect the route you went! Plus, I think the Daz cats suck pretty bad. If someone made a really good Daz cat, they'd have a real winner on their hands.

Wed, Mar 25Hahaha Indeed on all points. Sorry, I didn't mean to ignore your comment. I've been absent for a bit. I feel the same way about the cat, and for that matter, I've been hoping and praying for some retro, pin-up hair 40s-50s for quite some time. That would sell like hot cakes, I would think. The old-style you get from big curlers. What do I know.
Nice.
I did some "giant" renders in the past and scaled both the big character up and the set down to avoid issues. (Not saying that would have worked for you here, but it's a thought.)

Wed, Mar 25It is a great thought. I had started playing with some of that. I actually did have the set scaled down quite a bit. The movement of objects was getting a bit unwieldy and uncooperative, so I just render each separately. I thought, eh why fight it..
