DD Makeup Editor Realtime Skin Makeup System for Genesis 8
3D Render by Digital Drapery CoMost makeup presets inside DAZ Studio behave like texture swaps.
You apply a preset and suddenly the character's skin stops behaving like skin.
The pores disappear.
The subsurface scattering changes.
Lighting reacts differently.
After fighting this problem for weeks while building characters, I realized the issue wasn't the makeup itself.
The issue was the workflow.
Makeup shouldn't replace the skin.
It should adapt to it.
That idea led to the creation of DD Makeup Editor – Iray PBR Skin Makeup Tool for Genesis 8 Female.
Instead of swapping textures, this system adds adjustable shader layers for:
- Lipstick
- Eyeliner
- Eyeshadow
- Blush
- Foundation
Each layer blends with the original skin so pores, tone variation and lighting response remain intact.
The result is a workflow where you start with a style and shape it to the character instead of searching endlessly for a preset that almost works.
Built for artists creating:
- portrait renders
- cinematic characters
- visual novel characters
- animation close-ups
Because every character deserves a look that actually belongs to their skin.

Okay, I'm convinced. It's on my wishlist! Thanks for sharing.

Sat, Mar 07Thanks Robert, I really appreciate that! Glad the idea behind it resonated with you. The whole goal was to make makeup feel like it belongs to the skin instead of fighting against it. Hope when you try it out it fits nicely into your workflow.
I like the flexibility you offer with your work. Thumbs up and good luck

Sat, Mar 07Thank you Pushee-Ri, I really appreciate that! Flexibility was exactly the goal with this tool. Along with the editor, it also includes a one-click skin converter to help adapt older skins to the workflow. It’s not a perfect 1:1 conversion, but it usually gives a noticeably better base to work from inside the editor.
