If you still have the scene (and a little time and inclination), you can take a look at the tone mapping settings (Render Settings pane -> Tone Mapping). For example, try setting the gamma value to 2.0 (or less) and compare the before and after. Other interesting options for tone mapping include vignetting and cm2 factor. You can also do a lot with the other options. Have fun
