Her Blue Veins
3D Render by vehlvoxVery excited to work on this piece! I was torn between the camaera composition I set out to make and a composition that better shows the resin effect, so I did what I always do and chose both lol.
The character was made using DAZ, but Cinema 4d ended up being the primary 3d software, which is where I applied final materials/lighting in Redshift. I didn't want this to just be a shader; I wanted to actually see the interior of the model under the resin so I used C4D's powerful VDB workflow and fractal noises to create a cutter object out of the DAZ model. The boolean in C4d couldn't handle all of the polygons, but Houdini's boolean tools handled it no problem! Once the node structure was setup, it was pretty easy to replace the models as I iterated and tinkered with new resin patterns and poses.
All in all, I had a blast with this piece and, now that I have the technique down, I'm considering making more!
