Homeless youth are often called street kids, or urchins; the definition of street children is contested, but many practitioners and policymakers use UNICEF's concept of boys and girls, aged under 18 years, for whom "the street" (including unoccupied dwellings and wasteland) has become home and/or their source of livelihood, and who are inadequately protected or supervised.

It is getting late and dark.
Both have to find a place where they can spend the night. Something protected and hidden.
Boy:
Look, I think this is the place.
What do you think?
Girl:
I don't know. We've never been here before.
It's so remote.
Boy:
Yeah, I know sis, but we have to find something fast before it gets all dark.
Girl:
If you think I trust you.
Boy:
Come on, it'll be all right.
