Street Kids 004
3D Render by UdoKStreet children are poor or homeless children who live on the streets of a city, town, or village. Homeless youth are often called street kids, or urchins; the definition of street children is contested, but many practitioners and policymakers use UNICEF's concept of boys and girls, aged under 18 years, for whom "the street" (including unoccupied dwellings and wasteland) has become home and/or their source of livelihood, and who are inadequately protected or supervised.
------
A new day and the same problems and challenges.
Today is a beautiful sunny spring day and it is pleasantly warm.
Many pass by and look at the two children quizzically.
Others pass by and consciously look away. Why?
Girl:
Did you see the way he looked at us?
I think he is afraid of us.
Boy:
I know, sis, people like that think we mean them harm. They don't understand that we don't have a home.
Girl:
I don't think this is a good place. Don't we want to go somewhere else?
Boy:
I think so too. Just one more moment. If it doesn't get any better, we'll go.
