LI Lycanthropic Fur - HH Werewolf WIP
3D Render by LaticisRefinement of the the fur creation test for the HH Werewolf.
Out with the old...in the with new.
The old version is just too heavy for the system plus it was poorly constructed.
The new fur is a much better foundation.
DAZ Studio render.
Zbrush for the Fur creation enhanced with DAZ Studio dForce Hair Generation parameters.

Looks fantastic. Will you offer it up for sale in the future?

Tue, May 05Please put it up for sale here. Some users (myself included) aren't buying from DAZ.

Wed, May 06Oh, that's interesting to know.....I'll have to think about that one.
Not that I have much for sale here...but I get much better No.s through my DAZ store.

Wed, May 06Sorry, I should have specified "sell it here ALSO", not "sell it here ONLY".

Fri, May 08Oh, I'll have a look into that....I thought sumbitted products at the DAZ Store need to be 'exclusive' but maybe I was wrong according to Googles AI Overview.
If it's not the case I certainly will for this product.

Sat, May 09It's not exactly common, but I know I've seen various products sold at multiple sites simultaneously before. For example, I know for certain that Darkseal sold some of their stuff at both DAZ and Renderotica -- same products at the same time. So there is precedent. (Altho' I'm sure DAZ doesn't like it.)

Sat, May 09I have a certain sense of loyalty to DAZ as well....many many moons ago, the release of the first Genesis figure...I won a 3D printed figure in one of the competions and becuase of that comp, I earned a spot doing paid promo work for DAZ and that helped pave the way towards what I do now.
Also, HH's Werewolf is from the DAZ store too.

Sat, May 09I got one of those 3D printed figures as well, and all it did was sit in the box it came in because it was too fragile to display properly. (I have cats, and it wouldn't have lasted five minutes.) A few years later, I gave it away to someone in the DAZ/Poser community who hadn't received one but really wanted one. I got it for free and it didn't mean anything to me, so I had no problem letting it go.
And it doesn't matter if the base figure is sold only at DAZ: lots of add-ons are sold off-market. That's basically Renderosity, Renderotica, and Renderhub's core business: supplying assets for figures sold only at DAZ. And any loyalty you might have to DAZ regarding the first Genesis figure would have been to the original management team, who were all pushed out by the chuckleheads running things now.

Sun, May 10Personal, I felt proud of mine becuase its was mine design, my morphed creatured so it does have some sentimental value but if it was to fall off a shelf a break there would be no tears.
Oh yes, I understand that...but it's the way I operate and think that drives that for me.
Sorry, I try not to get inloved with the politics of most situations...all I want to do is create. I spent 30 years in the Road Sign business...now I don't have too and for the last three years 3D content creation is full time, but that makes it my only source of income so I have to take that into consideration.

Mon, May 11I understand. I wasn't trying to involve you in anything you didn't want to do. I was just trying to point out that putting something up for sale exclusively on DAZ 3D means that a lot of people (myself included) will never buy it because of their dissatisfaction with the way DAZ is doing business these days, and that selling that same product on any of the other three R's (Renderosity, Renderotica, and Renderhub) gives them a way to purchase it that doesn't encourage DAZ to continue doing things the way they are. Up until DAZ kicked off the rental-ware scheme a year or so ago, I bought everything you'd released there. However, since then, I haven't spent a dime there, meaning that you lost out on quite a few sales from just to me alone, and probably from a lot of other people, too. On the other hand, if you made this product available here, I'd have bought it in a heartbeat. Oh, well.

Mon, May 11I really do appreciate the conversation though...it's very good food for thought.
It would be very interesting to know the actual number....and yes, there would be many others feeling and doing the same as you.

Mon, May 11Yeah, I'd love to see the numbers to see how the changes DAZ made have affected sales, but I'm not staff or a vendor, so I'll never get to see them. I have seen probably two or three dozen individuals at various sites claiming that they've either scaled back or stopped purchasing entirely from DAZ because of those changes or because of A.I., but that's completely anecdotal, and whether that actually translates into lost sales, I have to admit that I have no way of knowing except for how it has affected my purchasing.
One last thing, tho', and then I'll drop the subject. If you really are determined that this product will only be sold at DAZ, then why are you showcasing it here? You must realize that you're effectively using Renderhub's resources to advertise a product that -- no matter how many copies of it you sell -- only you and DAZ are going to profit from it. Renderhub won't get a dime, and that strikes me as a little unfair.
Anyways, thanks for the talk, and have a good one...

Tue, May 12Yes, the stats would be interesting.
RenderHub & Artsation are the only two locations I share my artwork now. I even stopped posting on Facebook.
I also provide quite a few freebies that I only share here at RenderHub and then post the link into my DAZ Freebie Forum that links back to RenderHub.
Likewise.

Tue, May 12The freebies don't generate revenue. You're using Renderhub to promote a DAZ product. There is a difference.

Tue, May 12Thank you as well for a valid point, I will no longer post any product development renders here.

Tue, May 12Of course I use DAZ Studio and DAZ's figures. What I don't do is use someone else's resources to advertise my products that they also won't share in the sales of. If you were going to sell your product here, showcasing it here would make sense, because the hosting site would benefit from the sales of that product. Or if the base figure was sold here, advertising an add-on for it that would only be sold on a competitor's site could at least be expected to drive sales of the base product sold on the hosting site, so again, that would make sense. However, in this case, Renderhub doesn't benefit from the sales of either product, even tho' you're using their resources to advertise them. That's the unfairness I'm talking about: you and DAZ are both receiving a measurable financial advantage at Renderhub's expense by showcasing a product that won't be sold here.
And sure, linking to Renderhub to distribute your freebies might raise awareness of you as a vendor or of Renderhub as a market, but that doesn't necessarily translate into sales. I've got plenty of freebies in my library from people who've never received a dime from me, and I bet you do, too.
It's entirely up to Renderhub if they have an issue with what you're doing here, and if they haven't acted on it, then they either don't know about it or they don't care. I'm simply pointing it out to you that it looks kinda bad. Take it how you will.

Wed, May 13Just so you know, RenderHub recently shared the first WIP render here and at Behance.
Regardless, what you say is a fair enough statement and as mentioned before and I will no longer be posting my wips anymore.

Wed, May 13If Renderhub doesn't have an issue with it, then that's on them. I'm just sayin' you could at least have the courtesy to cut them in on a piece of the action if you're gonna use their site to drive traffic (and $$$) to a competitor's site.
