Offshore Tug - Premium 3D Printable 1-Meter Mega Project
This 1-meter-long offshore tug is a large-scale, highly detailed 3D printable model inspired by the well-known offshore support vessel ESVAGT Dana. While the overall proportions, layout, and character of the ship are clearly derived from the real vessel, many details have been deliberately optimized or re-interpreted to ensure easier 3D printing, improved durability, and a more builder-friendly assembly process. As a result, deviations from the real ship should be expected. The complete package exceeds 180 MB and assembles into a complex model of more than 250 individual parts. A vast range of accessories is included to allow rich deck detailing and personal customization: fully operational cranes, multiple dinghies and zodiacs, lifeboats, deck equipment, and even an unmanned submarine/sonar unit—along with several additional surprises. Not all accessories are intended to be used simultaneously; instead, the builder is encouraged to select and combine elements freely to create a unique interpretation. The pack also includes our fully functional azimuth propeller system 12.5 EUR standalone and our large modular crane system 12.5 EUR standalone, making this model exceptionally strong in terms of price-to-performance value.
3D printing settings
Although primarily designed as an impressive display model, the model features an empty interior and a robust hull with up to 10 mm wall thickness, providing an excellent platform for advanced experimentation and RC conversions. Two separate large access lids on the rear deck and a fully removable front superstructure offer generous access to the interior volume. This is not a beginner-level project and is best suited for experienced builders who enjoy complex, multi-part assemblies and long-term builds. In the hands of a skilled RC modeler, however, the structure can be transformed into a truly remarkable working vessel. Parts are designed with strength, longevity, and large-format 3D printing in mind. The provided images serve as inspiration only—final configuration and detailing are entirely up to the builder, ensuring that no two completed models ever need to look the same. Full color 3MF file format is also included.
Part organization and assembly logic
To support the assembly of such a large and complex model, a clear and consistent part-naming convention is used throughout the entire file pack. Each part name includes both its functional description and its approximate location on the vessel, with lower part numbers corresponding to components closer to the bow and higher numbers progressing toward the stern. Internal alignment features and assembly bosses are integrated into the design, allowing parts to be mechanically positioned and temporarily secured while the adhesive cures, greatly reducing stress and alignment errors. Assembly is intended to proceed from the bottom up—starting with the hull and moving gradually toward the deck structures and superstructure. While no step-by-step assembly manual is provided, the systematic naming, logical part breakdown, and careful design of interfaces should be more than sufficient for an experienced builder to assemble the model with confidence and precision.
