Chinese Qing-Class Strategic Missile Submarine 3D Model
3D model description
This 3D printable model is inspired by the Chinese Qing-class ballistic missile submarine, a defining design of modern strategic undersea warfare. Characterized by its large hull, distinctive missile compartment, and purposeful silhouette, the class represents a major step in the evolution of long-range deterrent submarines. The model emphasizes accurate overall proportions and recognizable external features while deliberately simplifying or interpreting finer details to ensure clean geometry and reliable 3D printing, in line with the limited availability of public technical data. The hull is designed with a fully empty interior, making the model suitable not only as a display piece but also as a potential platform for advanced experimentation. All major control and mission-related elements are fully articulated, including dive planes, rudders, propellers, periscopes, two missile silo hatches, and the distinctive escape pod, giving the finished model a strong mechanical and technical presence.
3D printing settings
The file pack includes 42 optimized STL files and a full-color 3MF file for color-capable printers and slicers. Parts are segmented to fit standard desktop FDM printers and to minimize support requirements while maintaining structural strength. The hull sections incorporate alignment features and assembly reference details, allowing accurate positioning and secure bonding during assembly. The upper two hull sections can be used as removable access hatches, which—while not explicitly designed as RC-ready—can enable internal access for skilled builders considering custom RC or functional conversions. PLA or PETG printed at 0.16–0.20 mm layer height, with moderate infill and 3–4 perimeters, is recommended. Builders are encouraged to review the included renderings, dry-fit components, and adapt the assembly approach to their own goals, whether creating a refined static display model or exploring more ambitious, technically driven projects. 95cms long, 1:93 scale approx.
