SoftBody Simulation Plugin
SoftBody Simulation adds soft tissue inside Daz Studio. You mark the area yourself: belly, chest, hips, glutes, or any other part of the figure. While the figure is posed or played on the timeline, that area lags behind the pose, springs back, and sags under gravity.
The skeleton stays in place. Bones remain bones. The plug-in moves the surface on top of the pose you already set, so a breath, a step, a bend, or a move across the scene shows up in the soft tissue and not only in the joints.
A normal morph stores one finished shape. Here the shape is recalculated while you move the figure. No second application is required. The region runs in the Daz viewport.
What you get
------------
Your own region, rather than a fixed list of bones. The region gets a name. Faces are selected on the figure and assigned with Add Region. The other side is included with mirror selection. The boundary does not stop in a hard step: the offset fades across the neighboring rings of faces and blends into the rest of the body.
Motion that follows the pose. The region lags when the figure moves or bends, and it catches the surface when the motion stops. Stiffness sets how fast the tissue returns. Damping settles the swing. Sag is set in centimeters. Max Offset keeps the region from traveling too far.
The surface stays outside the body. Stay Outside pushes the region back out when the solve would carry it inside the figure. The gap from the skin is set separately, in centimeters.
Clothing follows the body. On Clothing copies the soft-region offset onto clothing that is fitted to the figure or parented to it. Each garment does not get its own setup. It repeats the motion already solved on the figure.
Presets. Light, Soft, Heavy, and Firm set stiffness, damping, and sag together. Soft is the default. Any slider can still be dragged or typed afterward, the same way as a Daz parameter.
How to use it
-------------
1. Select the figure.
2. Open the SoftBody Simulation pane.
Daz Studio 4: Window > Panes.
Daz Studio 6: Window > Panes (Tabs).
3. Type a name for the region.
4. Select the faces. Alt+Shift+G opens the Geometry Editor. Drag selects, Ctrl adds, Alt removes. Ctrl++ grows the selection, Ctrl+- shrinks it, Ctrl+* selects the connected surface, Ctrl+/ inverts it.
5. Turn on Mirror Selection when the other side should be included.
6. Click Add Region.
7. Pose the figure or play the timeline.
Add Region again replaces the simulated area with the current selection. Remove Region clears the chosen name and its vertices. Enable turns the motion off and leaves the region assigned.
Sliders on the pane:
Stiffness return to the pose. A lower value is looser tissue.
Damping how fast the motion dies down.
Gravity Sag hang, in centimeters.
Max Offset the largest allowed offset, in centimeters.
Region Weight how strongly the assigned faces take part.
Edge Blend how wide the falloff runs onto neighboring faces.
Skin Gap the gap kept outside the surface, in centimeters. Used with Stay Outside.
Defaults: Soft, stiffness 0.25, damping 0.50, sag 1.00 cm, max offset 10.0 cm, region weight 0.50, edge blend 0.50, Stay Outside on, skin gap 1.00 cm.
What is in the package
----------------------
Daz Studio 4\SoftBodySimulation.dll
Daz Studio 4.5 or newer, 64-bit.
Daz Studio 6\dsp_SoftBodySimulation.dll
Daz Studio 6, 64-bit. The dsp_ prefix in the file name is required.
INSTRUCTIONS.txt
Install steps and pane reference.
The plug-in goes into the plugins folder of the installed Daz Studio. Place the DLL directly in that folder. Do not rename it and do not put it in a subfolder.
