Leaf Blower, Hand Held, SquibbleJack, V1 3D Model
A free 3D model by Luke Turner (AKA Luqu, Luqu Trnr, Lukon100, Volcanoface, Doubt45, Illuwuz).
Note: If I revise this model and re-issue it, I will increment the "V1" to "V2" and so on.
This is a Daz and .OBJ conversion of a leaf blower made by SquibbleJack in Blender. SquibbleJack's original Blender version is available for free on BlendSwap.
I am permitted to offer this to you by way of the CC-0 license on SquibbleJack's original.
SHORTCOMINGS
This 3D model ain't perfect. It's construction reflects my current beginner's skill level with Blender.
But it looks ok from a typical distance, I think.
VERSIONS AND FEATURES
This download includes the model in both DAZ Studio format and .obj format.
The Daz Studio version has a bunch of control properties in the "Properties" tab.
1. Operate the "On/Off" switch.
2. Operate the speed throttle squeeze trigger thing.
3. Pull the starter cord out.
4. Maneuver the starter cord to help put the "T" handle in your figure's hand.
The .OBJ version has no such control properties, of course. But the model is partitioned into vertex groups so you can rig this stuff up in other programs. AND… I include the morph target file that stretches out the start cord.
MATERIALS
Both format versions are UV mapped.
There is only one texture map that I use. It is for the labels on the casing. This label image map includes some of the orange area around the on/off switch label as well. This matches the orange color of the casing in general. This arrangement makes it difficult to change the color of the casing. To change the color, you need to replace the orange color in the label image map with the color you want the casing to be, so the area around the on/off switch will match the rest of the casing. I provide a PhotoShop .psd file of the label image map that makes changing the color easier. It is in the Runtime/Textures/Luqu Trnr/Leaf Blower, Hand Held, SquibbleJack, V1 directory.
SquibbleJack's original Blender model also had a normals image map to produce embossed lettering here and there. I ignored this normal map because it produced mysterious problems in Daz Studio (looked like flipped normals on the nozzle), and I did not feel like asking for the solution on web forums. Not worth it to me. If you want to pursue the embossed lettering glory, try out the included normal map and give it a go.
