Hamster Exercise Wheel with Stand - Pet Toy Assembly 3D Model
Keep your small pets active and healthy with this beautifully designed, modular Hamster Exercise Wheel. Engineered for a smooth spin and stability, this multi-part assembly includes the main running wheel, a sturdy base stand, and a central locking hub.
The wheel features a slatted/textured inner track to provide excellent grip for your pet's tiny paws, while the solid back design prevents accidental tail or foot pinches. Perfect for DIY pet owners or makers looking to create custom cage accessories!
Key Features:
Pet-Safe Design: Solid back wall and a textured running surface for optimal grip and safety.
Modular Assembly: The wheel, stand, and central hub/cap are separate pieces for easy multi-color 3D printing and hassle-free assembly.
Sturdy Base: The wide, curved base prevents tipping during vigorous running.
Premium CAD Source: Includes the original Plasticity and STEP files, allowing advanced users to easily modify the center bore to fit standard metal skateboard bearings (like the 608ZZ) for a perfectly silent spin.
Included File Formats:
STL: High-resolution meshes, ready to slice and 3D print.
OBJ: Standard format compatible with most 3D visualization software.
STEP / STP: Solid CAD file, perfect for CNC machining or parametric editing in Fusion 360/SolidWorks.
Plasticity: The original source file, allowing effortless design tweaks if you use Plasticity 3D.
Settings and Manufacturing Instructions
For FDM 3D Printing:
Print Orientation: * Wheel: Print flat on its solid back.
Stand: Print flat on its bottom base.
Center Hub/Cap: Print flat on its widest side.
Supports: Minimal supports are needed. You may only need standard supports for the center axle hole on the wheel and the connecting joint on the stand.
Layer Height: 0.20mm is perfect for a balance of strength and speed.
Infill: 15% - 25% (Gyroid or Cubic). A slightly higher infill on the stand will add weight to the bottom, preventing it from tipping over.
Walls/Perimeters: Use at least 3 to 4 walls for structural durability, especially for the center axle.
Material Recommendation: PETG or PLA is highly recommended as they are generally non-toxic and safe for pets. Avoid ABS or resins if the pet is likely to chew on the plastic.
Assembly Tip: If using as-is with a friction fit, apply a tiny amount of pet-safe lubricant (like a drop of vegetable oil or beeswax) to the plastic axle to reduce squeaking.
For CNC Machining:
Software: Import the .STEP file into your CAM software.
Tooling & Setup: The wheel's interior track will require a multi-axis CNC or careful flipping to machine the textured grips. Alternatively, this design is excellent for creating a mold to cast pet-safe urethane toys.
Material: Ensure you are using non-toxic, untreated materials (like untreated woods or food-grade HDPE plastic).
