Kinder surprise (Italian Kinder Sorpresa, children's surprise , from German Kinder - children) is a chocolate egg with a surprise containing a toy inside. The trademark belongs to the Italian company Ferrero. The creator of the Kinder Surprise egg, William Salice, began working at the Ferrero confectionery concern in 1960, becoming the right-hand man of owner Michele Ferrero and working there for more than 40 years until his retirement in 2007. The production of chocolate eggs by this company began in 1972 (the company website indicates 1974). Kinder Surprise toys are popular collectibles among both children and adults. Every year Ferrero offers more than a hundred different surprises.
