Save Storm - Auto Save. Auto Backup and Save Reminder
Save Storm keeps your work safe so an unexpected crash never costs you hours. It
reminds you to save on your schedule, can autosave silently in the background,
keeps a rolling history of versioned backups next to your scene, and helps you
recover after a crash. It is a DAZ Script, so it runs on DAZ Studio 4 and DAZ
Studio 6, on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
This is a full rebuild of Save Storm: a single, control panel replaces
the old set of separate scripts, with versioned backups and crash recovery added.
- Highlights
- Save reminder at an interval you choose, only when there are unsaved changes.

Set how often you want to be reminded to save. The reminder appears only when
there are unsaved changes, so it never nags you for nothing. Prefer to not be
interrupted? Turn on silent autosave and Save Storm saves to your scene file in
the background. Either way, saves land in a lull when the scene is idle, so they
do not freeze you in the middle of an edit. If your scene has never been saved,
Save Storm asks for a name once, then keeps that file current.
- Versioned backups
Save Storm keeps timestamped copies of your project in a "SaveStorm Backups"
folder right next to your scene file, on their own, more spaced interval. It
keeps the newest versions and drops the oldest automatically, so backups never
fill your disk. Need a deeper history? Turn on "Keep a longer history" for many
more versions, still capped. Roll back to an earlier state any time.
- Crash recovery
If DAZ Studio closes unexpectedly, the next time you open Save Storm it offers to
reopen your last autosave, with the time it was made. It only offers this when it
is safe to do so, so it never replaces work you have not saved.
- Runs with DAZ Studio
A headless autostart script lets Save Storm protect your work from the moment DAZ
Studio starts. Set it in Edit > Preferences > Startup and it runs in the
background, with no window, using your saved settings.
- You stay in control
In reminder mode, Save Storm never saves without showing you the alert first. You
decide when your work is written. Live status shows in the DAZ Studio status bar
so you always know what it is doing.
