Armchair Hive Monza 3D Model
Following the MIURA and MYTO projects, the Monza Armchair represents the evolution and deepening of Konstantin Grcic’s collaboration with Plank. This design combines traditional craftsmanship with modern industrial techniques, merging wooden construction with injection‑moulded plastic. The chair’s defining feature is its continuous backrest and armrest, made of moulded plastic, which simultaneously serves as a structural element and provides ergonomic comfort.
Formally, Monza refers to a Scandinavian typology of wooden chairs, yet it reinterprets this tradition through contemporary materials and color accents. The wooden legs and seat emphasize simplicity and warmth, while the plastic component introduces versatility, durability, and a striking visual contrast. This duality embodies Plank’s philosophy: rooted in artisan heritage but oriented toward innovation in industrial design.
The result is a chair that is both functional and expressive, suitable for domestic interiors, public spaces, and architectural projects where clarity of form and material honesty are valued.
This 3D model of the Monza Armchair has been carefully built with clean topology and accurate proportions, ensuring smooth performance in both offline rendering and real‑time visualization engines. The geometry highlights the interplay between the light wooden seat and legs and the dark curved plastic backrest/armrest, faithfully capturing the chair’s distinctive silhouette.
The model is prepared for PBR materials, allowing realistic representation of wood grain, matte or glossy plastic, and fabric variations. Its optimized mesh makes it adaptable for high‑quality renders, VR/AR environments, and game engines such as Blender, Unreal, or Unity.
