China Tiangong Space Station 3D Model
China Space Station (CSS), also known as Tiangong Space Station
It is a modular low‑Earth‑orbit space station fully designed and assembled in‑orbit by China. Its basic T‑shaped configuration was completed by the end of 2022, marking the start of long‑term operational phase.
The baseline assembly consists of three modules: Tianhe Core Module, Wentian Experiment Module and Mengtian Experiment Module, forming a T‑shape layout. The total mass of the three‑module stack is about 68.5 tons. It orbits Earth at an altitude of 340‑450 km with an orbital inclination of 42‑43, completing one orbit every roughly 90 minutes. Its designed service life is no less than 10 years, with maintenance‑based life‑extension capability, and can be expanded to a 6‑module,180‑ton complex in the future.
‑ Tianhe Core Module: The command‑and‑control hub and main living quarters for taikonauts. Equipped with multiple docking and berthing ports for Shenzhou crew spacecraft and Tianzhou cargo freighters.
‑ Wentian Experiment Module: For space‑science research. It provides backup station‑control functions, an independent extravehicular airlock and a small robotic arm.
‑ Mengtian Experiment Module: Focuses on microgravity‑science research. It features a cargo airlock for deploying external payloads into space.
The station supports 3 taikonauts for long‑term residence, and can temporarily host up to 6 crew members during crew hand‑over periods. Multiple science racks onboard support experiments covering life science, material science, fluid physics and astronomical observation. It enables extravehicular activities aided by large and small robotic arms. Shenzhou Manned Spacecraft delivers crew, while Tianzhou Cargo Spacecraft supplies materials and propellant. The Xuntian space telescope will operate in co‑orbit with CSS for astronomical observation in future missions.
