Alexander the Great (356–323 BCE) was a Macedonian king and one of the most successful military commanders in history.
He became king at the age of 20 after the death of his father, Philip II, and went on to build one of the largest empires of the ancient world, conquering the Persian Empire and territories stretching from Greece and Egypt to parts of India.
Known for his brilliant military strategies, courage, and ambition, Alexander never lost a major battle and helped spread Greek language, culture, and ideas throughout his vast empire.
He died unexpectedly in Babylon at the age of 32, leaving behind an empire that was later divided among his generals.
