Handley Page HP-42 Hannibal V02 3D Model
This model is built for the in flight animator and has a lot of exterior detail. It is built near to scale and includes a lot od detail and consequently is a very high poly model. The model is also fully textured and comes with the materials and textures shown here. The model is also provided in several formats.
The HP-42 and 45 by Handley Page were four-engine airliners built by Handley Page to meet a 1928 specification of Imperial Airlines. Eight were built including 4 HP-42 and 4 HP-45. Three survivors after 11 years of service were pressed into service by the RAF at the beginning of WWII. The HP-42 was designed for the long distance Far East routes while the HP-45 was built for European service. In actual service both airplanes were known commonly as the HP-42 Hannibal and the 45 was just a Handley Page designation. The aircraft was all metal except for the coverings of wings, tails, and stabilizers and control surfaces. First paying service flights were in June 1931. The Imperial airways airline executives wanted an airliner that landed at very slow speeds. This made the airplane safer and also capable of landing on many of the unimproved short runways of the time. To do this however the airplane needed a lot of wing area. This aircraft has as much wing area as a 707 built thirty years later and weighing more than 8 times as much.
