The idea behind it maybe nice, but to write:
Create Amazing 3D Scenes in Your Browser
PoserPlay brings the power of 3D creation to everyone. No downloads, no installations - just pure creativity.
and then having this picture
is just too bad.
Nothing that would tempt me to join.
I mean serious, this is so cheap Photoshop made, that it hurts.

That right there is also why I try to be very careful about using backdrops in scenes.
That gives of "This is my first ever render; I'm still trying to figure out how things go," vibes.

Wed, Jul 09Exactly, and if one can't use a backdrop like in this picture, he really should give the job for the promo to someone better

I don't want to bash whoever did these (or thump my own chest - I've had more than my fair share of awkward renders and misses over the years), but these are on the terrible side when it comes to showcasing promotional renders.

Wed, Jul 09*lol* I just have to look through my folder and am asking my self, why in heaven I made those awful looking render.
But then I remember, I was a newbie, fresh as can be and mistakes were with me, all along my way.
Still today, I'm centuries away from being perfect.
But for a promo I would never use something like that.

Wed, Jul 09LOL - And the caption for that one reads: "Your scenes will look super with our AI-generated 2D backgrounds."
"Super BAD" maybe...

To me this is Bondwares defacto admission that they cannot sell the copies of the vestigial poser software.
Those showcase images would be embarrassing back in 2005
Do they seriously think this would inspire someone to rush over and spend $250 on the full program.?

Wed, Jul 09Well, they claim, the basics will be for free.
But 250 bucks for something that works with AI? For heavens sake, this is piracy!

Ya the one with the frog looks great if the goal is to simulate magazine cutout collage.

This is so bad. It's like someone's playing a joke. Does someone who works for Bondware / Poser not like Bondware / Poser? LOL

No, what I mean is that this free web app is clearly trying to get people interested in buying the actual full Poser program from Bondware
(now reduced to $200 apparently)
There is no AI in Poser 13

Not in Poser 13, but in this online app, clearly stated:

Yeah I saw that
LOL!!
They must have used the internet wayback machine and trained their AI on crappy Poser & Bryce renders from the early 2000s.

Welcome to the Poser world.
Only die hard Poser cultists stay at Renderosity.
Poser has become scam ware.

For years I've said that Poser is no longer software, it's become a religion, and the faithful are delusional.
How can they not see that this is crap?

I'll just pick the picture MKDAWUSS had posted.

Look at the shadows, this is so awful.

I just couldn't let be, but installed Poser again, rendered Andy, put him in a Photo, adjusted the shadow and done.
I could have blurred out the shadow of his foot in the other shadow, but I think you see, what I mean about the shadow work.
No AI, ok, 2 steps, render and Photoshop, but still for a 2 minute job one can clearly see the difference.
Ok, and now I can remove Poser again *lol*

pretty obvious why poser lost the battle with daz, and every other 3D app. this is time locked level failure.

I cannot find a single thread or announcement about this new online "poser play" tool on the Renderosity site.
I am going to make a bold prediction.
Bondware is about to finally to EOL the Poser software.
when the remaining few the loyalists start bleeting like angry lambs, they will be directed to the new "FREE online Poserverse."
later there will be a cynical attempt to monetize a more "advanced " version with a monthly paywall.
All run by a low effort AI bot.

But there's a new update coming soon, it's in beta testing right now.
I can't believe I said that with a straight face.

Fri, Jul 11Update or upgrade. Doesn’t matter with Poser. It is the same anyway, except you will have to pay for the upgrade.
Honestly - I think it's great
Examples - and even more promos - like these show how representational reality is now perceived and consumed. This applies to generative AI (who cares about 7 fingers on one hand?) and also to handicrafts like the one shown: a realistic frog, a person on it .... and the fairy-tale marvel is complete.
I am also firmly convinced that - if Ball, Arp and Täuber-Arp had had PCs (even if it was only the Zuse stuff) - they would have produced exactly such works and even better ones
DADA is KING

We've been predicting the demise of Poser and Rendo for years yet, amazingly, it keeps stumbling on.
I hope it survives so that we at least have a yardstick to see how bad it can be.
That ancient image browser ACDSee is still available but it's become a perfect example of feature
creep to the point where it's horribly slow, unstable, and has become a joke in the pro level graphics community.

Sun, Jul 13It's curious that Bondware didn't want to buy the WordStar word processor under MSDOS one day, as long as software survives, this one deserves not to be forgotten

The whole idea of using a background is great, IF you know how to light the image and blend it all together. I've done it dozens of times. But the stuff posted above?? OMG, it's like the first Poser images ever made.

Here's one of the images I've made that uses a backdrop, which I also made in Vue. But the lighting was custom made to work with the backdrop and I modified it for the final image so it blends perfectly.
