In museums, we find drawings, paintings, and sculptures depicting naked babies or children, and as far as I know, no one minds; it's art.
So I created the thread "Is 3D an art? Share your thoughts" to get the community's opinion.
Currently, only 7 people have responded, and the majority opinion is that yes, a person who creates a 3D image without the aid of artificial intelligence is an artist.
I also asked ChatGPT the following question: "Is 3D art? To be more precise, is a person who creates a 3D image without the aid of artificial intelligence an artist?"
Some excerpts from the response
*) Art, in the broadest sense, is a creative activity in which a person expresses an idea, an emotion, a vision, or an aesthetic. 3D, like painting, sculpture, or photography, is a visual medium.
*) Even if certain tools facilitate certain steps, it remains a controlled creative process, with aesthetic and technical choices. It's comparable to photography with a digital camera: the photographer remains an artist if they use their tool with creative intent.
*)And the conclusion of the answer:
Yes, a person who creates a 3D image without the aid of artificial intelligence is an artist. It's a contemporary art form, blending technology and creativity, just as photography or cinema did in their time.
------------------------
I think you can see where I'm going with my big boots...
My position is:
3D artists don't have the same rights as painters, designers, and sculptors because a gray Genesis in A pose raises problems.
But the worst part is that I don't understand the problem. Maybe my European perspective and my French culture don't give me the keys to understanding it.

I think it's difficult to distinguish those who try to make art from those who do something else, we are used to nudes in art and not looking for corruption even where there is none, but we must understand that Renderhub must follow American laws, so we Europeans must also adapt.

Sun, Jul 20Thank you for this answer, which puts the site's rules into context.

Sun, Jul 20I'm not a seller and at the moment not even an artist, because I no longer have a gallery here, I have no interest in starting any discussion, I already answered you, for me any image or work that gives you emotions is art, I make works for adults, but I don't use young models, others do differently, it depends on what use you make of them and you have to differentiate fantasy from reality... I hate American political correctness, but I like to stay within certain limits

Sun, Jul 20This guy is respectable and I agree with him. I don't like to be pc, but renderhub is only 3d site where when you shop for adult content. You still see children's faces and if you're seeing kids in underwear next to a model sucking a duck with cum all over he face. It pisses you off. Or at least it should no matter where you sre from.

3D artists have the right to create whatever they want.
Do not confuse a person's fundamental "human rights" under the prevailing laws of their jurisdictions etc.
With their desire to post images on someone else's privately owned server.
Even traditional painters do not have the right to hang their paintings in someone else's private gallery if the gallery owner says they cannot.

Sun, Jul 20Thank you! This is exactly the kind of answer I was waiting for, which complements the joker of spades' answer. I created this thread because I have the impression that a lot of people were lost with the modification/evolution of the site's rules.
Another point that might explain why there's so little input is that folks are tired of these discussions. We've talked about this sort of thing in an endless number of forums and Discord servers and they always go in circles. Then the self-righteous and puritanical jump in and scream their heads off while waving bibles. It quickly becomes confrontational and just no fun.
Anabran said it best.
There's some obscure forums, and places like Pixv that are a lot more welcoming to various forms of art, but you'll have to find them on your own.
One suggestion we could make to the administrators of this site is that they consider opening a satellite site in another country. Canada has become somewhat infamous as a haven for porn (PornHub's owners run out of Montreal and Perverted'Otica is in Winterpeg) and would probably welcome RenderHub's back room...or closet....or little room in the basement. (-;

Sun, Jul 20Thank you for helping me put the chu... sorry the town hall is in the middle of the village

I think you are obviously more trouble than you are worth going at this again. I recommend to ignore this and report any unsafe material you feel is necessary. I've already sacrificed enough telling people to quit being pisses of shit. Do you. You're not going to listen until its gone.

We have already had this discussion in the forum thread that was closed and removed. Renderhub is an American corporation operating in USA, and as such , is bound by the laws and rules of the United States of America.
Renderhub sets the terms of use for its website, and the vendors and artists using it, must adhere to those rules.
Not rocket science, and not complicated. Deal with it.
Keep your pedophilia and your kinky quirks to yourself. And in the closet if necessary. All the company is trying to do, is keep itself from any litigation. That is just smart business practices.

This is not a political statement; I am drawing an analogy from history to illustrate the dynamics of radicalism and opportunism.
When Castro assumed power, his regime first targeted the wealthy, vilifying them. Then, predictably, the next group to face persecution was the gay community. After they were sent to concentration camps, the authorities broadened their scope, using the animosity toward gay individuals as a pretext to pursue others. Artists were among the first to be singled out, followed by anyone who appeared different. Do you enjoy tea? Their reasoning was starkly simplistic: Cubans do not drink tea, so you must be gay or subversive. Off to the concentration camp with you. Some individuals recognized the advantages of becoming accusers themselves, as it elevated their status. Though short-lived, this provided an incentive to gain temporary benefits, which fueled an escalation of accusations and the systematic targeting of others.

Sun, Jul 20My advice to artists who cherish their work is to remain patient and steadfast. Individuals who post content involving children with harmful intentions lack integrity and disregard others' opinions. They will persist until they are exposed and stopped. Let them face the consequences of their actions, and do not allow yourself to be pulled down with them.
I dont like the drift that takes place in this discussion.
You are straying too far from the subject and as I unfortunately cannot delete it, I ask you to stop writing here.
Open another discussion if you wish to continue for these debates that do not interest me.

North is the opposite of south. Period
Honestly - I don't understand the connection between the title and the content of the thread. Maybe I have sunstroke ????

The North is simply not to confuse a figurine in a gray shade in a basic pose A regardless of its age with the sexualization of a child.
How can a customer of a child figurine appreciate it if they cannot see it in the images only in loose clothes?
When I wrote a similar message in the Inappropriate Content thread, they replied 'tits and ass'.
I simply feel like many people have completely lost their way.
Either 3D is an art like drawing, painting, sculpture, or photography, or 3D is not an art and we don't deserve the title of artist.

Sun, Jul 20A one-piece bathing suit or a ballet leotard would be sufficient to judge the body shape, while showing enough texture to judge.
I don't think any steer is needed tbh. Admins have spoken on the issue and it's a case of their house, their rules. It's not the place for debating the meaning of art and artistic freedoms...
While I think an unclothed grey figure is no more sexual than say, an unclothed doll I've always rendered my younger characters in sports wear to give the idea of a characters shape while not potentially making viewers from more conservative places uncomfortable.
This isn't an artistic compromise. Such images are purely practical and functional and need to work with both the intended audience and the site rules.
