A question here....isn't the DMCA an American law that's only enforceable in the US?
Couldn't Valve/Steam simply set up a sales shop in a more civilized country?
I'm sure there'd be lots of countries that would not only be happy to host Steam, but also set up a payment system that only they would control.

I have zero clue, but I'll ask him once he's back from work, I just remembered him watching this a few days ago, but I think yes, it's a US thing. Valve should move to El Salvador and let crypto payments as an additional form of payment, hot take, I know.

Sorry, it's late but, yes, is a US specific law for copyrights infringement. I guess in reality is not a bad thing, but how you use it seems to be if left unchecked.

I know all about DDOS attacks but don't see what they have to do with this discussion.
