My Store and my figures
85I haven't said anything about why I suddenly stopped producing female characters. So if the people who have bought the G8F characters that I created, as well as the people who are following me (there's a lot of you and for that I am thankful) are curious as to why I stopped, here is the reason.
I created my store in October 2021 with GD Soon-Li. And, between then and May 2023, when my last character, GD April, was uploaded, I had created a total of 107 characters. Some were great, some were good, and I will admit that some were not that great.
After a little under two years and 107 figures later I guess I got burned out. I was literally on the computer day and night creating figures, and not every one of them made to the final stage to uploaded to my store.
Then, in September 2022 my computer died, and I had to buy a new one. Shortly after that the hard drive where I had all the DAZ files died as well, and I lost everything. Fortunately I was able to recover enough of the files through Install Manager to complete a couple of more figures, and the last one, GD April teen, was uploaded in May 2023. But I was having problems with the DAZ software as well. I'm running DAZ Studio v4.21. I tried installed 4.22 but for some reason it wouldn't work. The hard drive carrying the DAZ files is mounted in an external housing, unlike the other computer where it was in one of the four bays the computer had for additional HDs. There's something like 4 or 5 TBs of files on that drive, and working with them (on an external drive) is a slow process. I had hoped to graduate to creating Genesis 9 Female figures, but I just couldn't do it. Honestly I don't like G9Fs. I did one figure, but she looked more like a male with a somewhat female appearance, not a true female. Plus, as I had said, I was burned out.
So, my store is still there. And my 107 females (adults and 18-year-old) are still there for anyone who wants to buy them. And every so often I have a 10-day 20% off sale, one of which I just started, for the next 10 days

I understand you; you've been making characters for five years now, and doing the same type of product year after year gets boring.
My point of view continues the 3D, but by making other products, such as environments, houses, furniture, landscapes, the choice is vast!

Wed, Mar 04Thanks for your response!
I did try other things like clothing and props, but I never did learn Blender (which I have) or ZBrush (which I also have). My 73-year-old brain can't fathom all the different ways of creating things in those two. I also have Hexagon 2.5 and did experiment with making clothes, but like the other two, I just can't fathom it. I guess I'm just too used to DAZ Studio, where creating figures is so much easier.

You're right: creating characters for DAZ is (compared to other DAZ work) somewhat "easier". From my own feelings and experience, the next relatively "easy" thing is poses.
Creating poses is a lot of fun (at least for me). Especially when you try to get the most out of it—i.e., make the pose look as realistic as possible. People always say that there are already many (too many) pose packs out there, but on the one hand, many packs are identical... or boring as hell from the start

Wed, Mar 04I made some clothes with Hexagon, and honestly, it's not the ideal tool; there are too many adjustments to make point by point.
Hexagon also has a major drawback: textures aren't handled very well for spheres and cubes.
But it's intellectually stimulating to learn new things when you're over 70!
