Mon, Jul 20I just wanted to delete the gallery (I don't want them to use my images) but it looks like I'll have to delete the profile... I'll still come and visit you, there are so many good people here... then I'm not far away, you can find me on DA... on renderesity and I'll restore the gallery on pixiv

Mon, Jul 20That's a HUGE shame! Since Rendo isn't really my thing and I'm not familiar with the other one: Do you have the same username on DeviantArt as you do here?

And if I weren't (and didn't have to be) mainly taking promotional pictures for my projects, there would definitely be more of my work to see on DA. Well... maybe someday...

While you do own your images, you did also grant RH an irrevocable perpetual license.

Mon, Jul 20It applies to any image you upload here, as per TOS. If you are a member of facebook or myspace or twitter, or probably just about anywhere you are allowed to upload images, they also have similar TOS.
Renderhub TOS
5.3 Permission to Use Your Content. By posting Your Content, you grant RenderHub a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, sub-licensable, perpetual license to use, display, edit, modify, reproduce, distribute, store, and prepare derivative works of Your Content. This allows us to provide the Services and to promote RenderHub, your RenderHub store, or the Services in general, in any formats and through any channels, including across any RenderHub Services, our partners, or third-party website or advertising medium. You agree not to assert any moral rights or rights of publicity against us for using Your Content. You also recognize our legitimate interest in using it, in accordance with the scope of this license, to the extent Your Content contains any personal information.
Facebook TOS
2. Permission to use content you create and share: Specifically, when you share, post, or upload content that is covered by intellectual property rights on or in connection with our Products, you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, and worldwide license to host, use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly perform or display, translate, and create derivative works of your content (consistent with your and settings). This means, for example, that if you share a photo on Facebook, you give us permission to store, copy, and share it with others (again, consistent with your settings) such as Meta Products or service providers that support those products and services. This license will end when your content is deleted from our systems.
If they don't have such a section in their TOS, the lawyer they hired to write their TOS was not very good lol. These TOS are always written with as much skew toward the one providing the service as legally possible.

oh but they do.
18.4 Survival. The Terms will remain in effect even after your access to the Service is terminated, or your use of the Service ends.
I used to spend a lot of time trying to get people to understand TOS that they agree to, but for the most part it falls on deaf ears. People would call me a tinfoil hatter, or conspiracy theory nutjob and all kinds of things lol. If you decide you want to fight the TOS,
23. DISPUTE RESOLUTION; BINDING ARBITRATION; CLASS ACTION WAIVER
You and RenderHub agree that these Terms of Use affect interstate commerce and that the Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of these arbitration provisions.
If you and RenderHub are unable to resolve a dispute through informal negotiations, you agree that any dispute concerning, relating or referring to these Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, the Site and/or the Service shall be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration pursuant to the Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. 1-16, according to the then existing Comprehensive Arbitration Rules & Procedures of the Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc. (JAMS). Such proceedings will be governed by substantive (but not procedural) New York law and will take place in Queens County, New York.
The arbitrator and not any federal, state, or local court or agency shall have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, conscionability, or formation of this agreement, including but not limited to any claim that all or any part of this agreement is void or voidable. Any arbitration under the Terms will take place on an individual basis-class arbitration and class actions are not permitted. Please understand that by agreeing to these terms and conditions, you (and we) are waiving our right to a trial by jury.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek emergency injunctive or other equitable relief before the state or federal courts located in or having jurisdiction over Queens County, New York, pending a final decision by the arbitrator. A request for interim measures shall not be deemed a waiver of the right to arbitrate. If for any reason a dispute proceeds in court rather than arbitration, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue in the courts located in or having jurisdiction over Queens County, New York and hereby waive all defenses of lack of personal jurisdiction and forum non conveniens with respect to said jurisdiction and venue.

Mon, Jul 20Of course I am not claiming that RH will decide to tell you to pound grass or whatever, but the TOS as written by their lawyers are always written in a way that gives them a really great chance of doing so and get away with it, if they should decide to.

Mon, Jul 20It does apply to all images. I am not saying they don't have a delete button, and that they don't honor the delete button and stop displaying the art when you hit the delete button. As far as I can tell they do. I am just pointing out what you agreed to when creating an account.

This could either be a bug, or the programmers simply forgot to include the images that are already tagged as 'removed' in the list of images to be permanently deleted.

Sorry, but I don't understand why you have a problem with RenderHub, but not DeviantArt, Renderosity, or pixiv. All three of those sites have similar language in their Terms of Use.
DeviantArt - https://www.deviantart.com/about/policy/service
Renderosity - https://www.renderosity.com/wiki/policies/terms-of-service
pixiv - https://policies.pixiv.net/en.html
As deathd pointed out - (I'll just copy and paste what deathd wrote, because it's spot-on):
"just about anywhere you are allowed to upload images, they also have similar TOS"
"If they don't have such a section in their TOS, the lawyer they hired to write their TOS was not very good"
I hope you change your mind. I am one of your followers, and I enjoy seeing your work here. In fact, I just popped through your gallery before seeing your post here.
And for what it's worth, there is nothing unusual about RenderHub's Terms of Use. This is quite normal for sites like these.

Mon, Jul 20No, I wasn't getting confused. I'm sorry if I confused you.
It was you who wrote these very things above:
"I'm trying to clear the gallery"
"I just wanted to delete the gallery (I don't want them to use my images)"
"you can find me on DA... on renderesity and I'll restore the gallery on pixiv"
I was just wondering why you're deciding to leave RenderHub when those other sites have pretty much the same language in their Terms of Use.
Please don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to argue with you. I'm trying to get you to stay.

Tue, Jul 21Don't worry, it's just a discussion, we exchange opinions, for those who manage this place, artists have less value than the average user... they have no respect, they even went so far as to accuse me of threats for having made a joke... better to avoid certain people...

Tue, Jul 21Umm... I can help you out here, because I was following this thread very closely:
https://www.renderhub.com/forum/14774/big-changes-at-renderhub-a-platform-evolution
I saw your "joke" there. And nowhere in that entire thread did any staff member accuse YOU of making threats.
What I DID see was an actual threat that has been removed now, and your post remains. So it's pretty clear to me that nobody was talking about you.
Since you've stated elsewhere that English isn't your primary language - and mine is - I hope this helps you with your opinion about RenderHub and your decision to leave or stay.
Honestly, I think it would be really sad to lose a talented artist all because of a misunderstanding or language barrier confusion.

Wed, Jul 22I'm not sure if this is the case, in fact I contacted support... who clearly didn't deign to answer me.
Deviantart is terrible, overrun with AI images and those people are nasty. Their egos are so over-the-top, they see everyone who is not an "AI artist" as inferior to them. I was there for about 20 years, had 5 Daily Deviations, a few thousand followers and thousands of favorites plus hundreds of comments on my art. I deleted every single image posted and walked away about 2 years ago now. Since Wix bought it out, the place has been on a steady downward decline. It's all about how much money Wix can suck out of DA, not about the community or the artists. A lot of folks have done the same thing as I did.
No matter where you go, things are not what they used to be, and most likely, never will be again. As far as places to post, this place has a lot of great artists, a nice group of people, and really, in the end, that is the best you can hope for these days. I'll miss your art, and I wish you all the best.

Mon, Jul 20We have a very different vision, I've been on deviantart for a while, I've rarely had problems with those who publish ai... in fact I have an excellent relationship with many of them, you don't want to see ai, there are filters, here you can find it in the gallery and also in the contests, but it seems that those who should check pretend nothing, arrogance, rudeness... I found dishonesty in other 3D artists.... I can put my images in premium folders that have a cost... explain to me what is better about this place, I'm curious... management? Respect for artists and sellers? I only asked to be able to delete images that strangely cannot be deleted, they are mine I have the right, I did not ask to delete the dozens of my images they have on their social networks... since for you this place is fantastic... where are the staff's responses? Let's do an experiment... make a post of compliments... you'll see how they run with their chests puffed out

Tue, Jul 21I simply felt more comfortable than you, it's a subjective question, not everyone feels comfortable in one context and not everyone feels bad in another, it depends on the character of each person and the people you meet, when I arrived on DA I knew many people from the various forums... it's not said that because you've spent 20 years there and I've spent 6 I have to see it the same way you do, there are people who buy my work, there are people registered to my premium folders, there are artists I appreciate, photographers, painters etc. If I gave the impression of disrespecting your experience on DA, it's not like that and I apologize, it wasn't my intention, we just had 2 different experiences... as it was here, you feel comfortable and I don't, we have 2 different opinions on 2 different platforms, this shouldn't be a problem and it doesn't change the great respect I have for you as an artist... just 2 different points of view... I don't speak good English, if I gave the wrong impression, I apologize
That is correct. Contest entries are handled differently from regular gallery submissions. Once a contest has concluded, entries cannot be edited or deleted.
This policy exists to protect the integrity of our contests for all participants.
1. We cannot have participants changing their submissions after judging has begun.
2. We cannot have winning entries disappearing after the contest has ended.
In your case, I see that you were selected as an Honorable Mention in two contests, and your images are part of those contest results:
https://www.renderhub.com/3d-contests/horrific-render-contest-4
https://www.renderhub.com/3d-contests/lore-of-the-dragon-render-contest
You are also correct when you say that those images are your property. RenderHub makes no claim otherwise.
As stated in the RenderHub Terms of Use:
"...You retain any copyright that you have in Your Content..."
At the same time, the Terms of Use also state that, by submitting content, you grant RenderHub:
"...a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, sub-licensable, perpetual license to use, display, edit, modify, reproduce, distribute, store, and prepare derivative works of Your Content..."
These two statements are not in conflict. You retain ownership of your work, while granting RenderHub the license necessary to display it.
https://www.renderhub.com/info/terms-of-use#p05
I'm genuinely sorry to hear that you're considering leaving the community. I think you do excellent work, and I'd like to congratulate you on earning two Honorable Mentions.
I hope this helps clarify things for you. If you have any additional questions, feel free to continue your conversation with Support in the message center. I see that one of our agents has already been assisting you there as well.

Thu, Jul 23What integrity are you talking about? There's no integrity in your contests.
Some participate honestly, some don't. Keep the works that received a mention (which are undoubtedly the worst I've submitted to these contests) and delete the others. I'll leave you another work for the contest... you'll see, you'll want to delete it without me asking.

Well said my friend. They do not have any relevant expertise training or experience to host the ridicules contest. They do not even have a basic understanding of what art actually is, this site is now just pop n slop culture. A marketing gimmick to sell more of our models that we don't get paid adequate royalties for.

Thu, Jul 30I have to agree with you, those who are not used to details do not notice certain things, the poses are not judged and they talk about difficulties in the guidelines, we see awarded works with calves that pass through the thighs... clothes that pass through objects, they talk about creativity and they continue to award works without a shred of developed concept, lastly artificial intelligence... which despite being prohibited in contests, renderhub ... does not turn a blind eye but 2, so talking to me about integrity because I want to remove images seems ridiculous to me, those contests have never been integrity, however we reached an agreement, it was enough to do it immediately, I deleted all my works and they delete the remaining ones.. except for the 2 that were awarded, I left in the gallery only Creoles homage to Pushee-Ri earrings, if I feel like reposting in this gallery ... I will not leave the works for more than a day ... for now I'm going away and wish everyone a happy holiday, here is full of good people, who I will have the pleasure of meeting again... here or elsewhere.

I'm disappointed and bitter, I had an agreement... but it seems that renderhub has no intention of respecting it. They keep telling me it needs a few days, in twenty days no one has had time to delete 10 images, I just wanted to empty my gallery without creating problems and probably sooner or later I would have started posting again... but this behavior is unbearable. I can't even get angry anymore, I'm just disgusted.

Sat, Aug 08You had an agreement alright.
When you posted your images, you agreed to grant RenderHub an irrevocable, perpetual license to display them.
When you joined the contests, you also agreed that all entries are final and cannot be edited or removed.
Everything you've said in this thread makes it clear that it's YOU who is not respecting what YOU agreed to.

Well, it does say this on the contest Terms and Conditions...
"Once the contest has concluded, all entries are final and cannot be edited or removed."
I don't understand why people can't take responsibility for their own actions and feel the need to blame others.

If YOU would like to appear more intelligent, YOU should read what you're agreeing to. That would save you from starting ridiculous threads like this.

Sat, Aug 08Wait, so AFTER the admin posted this on July 23 right here in this forum thread:
"Contest entries are handled differently from regular gallery submissions. Once a contest has concluded, entries cannot be edited or deleted."
You decided to go bother support? You really need to start reading things that are clearly spelled out for you.

You’re lecturing people who are speaking out publicly because they didn't appreciate seeing some of their published work disappear without warning.
You say, "I am a member of the community."
To me, being part of a community means sharing something—like images or products—but looking at your profile, I see nothing but likes, awards, and ratings.
The authors have no right to know what you do with the items you download. Believe me, they would love to see how buyers make the work their own—by changing the textures, for example.

It doesn't concern you... why do you keep talking about things you don't know? You came to this post with arrogance and rudeness, without knowing anything. Customer service and I talked a lot before the 23rd and we reached an agreement about this in a friendly manner... your question is why? Maybe because my work is on all their social media, in all their books, I've won awards and I'm probably the only one who asked to give it as a voucher to the sellers. When I rarely download something from here, I always take pictures to say thank you and when I can I buy their products. I've done many promotions... as you can see, I've been very collaborative with this community, probably in your own way you will be too, but learn to behave differently when you don't know what you're talking about. If the intent is to provoke me... you're talking to the wrong person... while I answer you, I'll drink a beer and eat 2 olives with a smile... have a good Sunday.

I think you are the one who is talking about things you don't know!
Olives definitely do not pair well with beer! I would go with a nice sauvignon blanc, or even a liqueur. Perhaps Ouzo, but definitely not beer!
Next thing you know you will be eating feta with Pepsi.

Hahaha
Seriously? I'd say a good Vermentino and some pecorino. I don't like wine, but I make craft beer. No one's stopping you from eating olives and drinking beer while eating bruschetta. Do you really want to teach an Italian how to eat and drink? Now... since you intervened... and clearly you could have done so a while ago, if it makes you happy, you can even ban me. It's not a problem for me, but despite your marked charm, you won't be able to provoke me. Drink a good wine and have a good evening.

Sat, Aug 15Yea, sorry it took so long. We are a little behind since the NSFW changes.
And tonight I enjoy some olives, feta, loukaniko and maybe a nice retsina.
That's the Greek way to eat Italian
