Opportunity I can't miss.
308Massive change of direction but with the same long term objective.
Making a flood defense. Around a decade ago I designed a flood defense system. Very practical and cost effective yet with a heavy duty rating.
Including designing two tier's of training programs for deployment. Contributing to local emergency action plans. I even designed a national emergency plan to accompany the products. I have worked in the past on emergency plans but not flood related.
At the time I was working on another project that later crashed during the pandemic. Six years later after going bust I feel ready to have another go and start a new venture. my jobs have always been creative or engineering and my wide variety of experience has given me a lot of insight into different industries and methods.
An opportunity for seed funding has come up as well as a few guys I can start a business with. There's more I could say about this news but for now I can't. If I get this right then I can fund my own studio later down the line.
My son starts college in a couple weeks so I was already motivated to get back to work. Then an opportunity came up at the same time my flood defense was niggling at me. I can help people in my local community and later globally with this product. Also help myself not just financially but my mind needs stimulation. I'm bored working from home and need to get back in the game.
2019 I was offered a place at a university to make this happen but my son needed me at home. Fore years to take a doctorate in flood engineering and protect my products.
This sort of opportunity rarely comes around twice so I'm going for it. I spent the last few nights re mastering my designs and including some tech updates. The prototypes will be built soon in my friends workshop and then presented to the client. There will be floods in the new year and I hope to be ready to test and collect telemetry for my entire product range. I want to have one kilometer ready to deploy by Christmas. This is a serious challenge and my product is only designed for low level and property protection. I need more data and testing for the real heavy duty stuff.
Today I called my old boss and asked his opinion. He's impressed and as the best structural engineer around I'm confident my product will be durable enough.
My old crew are building a festival right now so I got a lot of love on the phone call. I miss working and being challenged.
If I get this first contract then it's possible we will get a national deal. The opportunities that were there in 2019 are still available. Actually when I think about what I could have done back then but chose to be a single dad and live on benefits, it would make your eyes water. Good things come to those who wait
That said times are hard for everyone. I hope this gives me what I need, I'm not greedy. Just as I sort my shit out the world falls apart. It's a little scary getting back in the game.

Mon, Aug 17Many thanks. I'm sure there will be some challenges but I think I need that right now to push me forwards. All I really want is to buy a little farm with some outbuildings for a studio.

Mon, Aug 17Thanks Pushee,
Some new horizons for both of us. I will still be around when I can (summer when there's no floods lol) 3d art is now a sideline and hobby except for the Cad and presentation renders. I will try stay in contact.
I will be back and with my own studio, Game is still in pre-production but I have to step sideways and work on it occasionally now.

Wishing you the best of luck! We seriously need people like you with all that is going on with the climate!

Mon, Aug 17Bless you Mel and thanks. I believe in my product as I have seen it's potential in other situations, I know it will work and save peoples homes and businesses. I really want to make my game but can't until I put this project to bed. Empower myself to do my own projects.
