A few Questions about Adult Images. (CLOSED)

Hello, I have a few Questions again. Why don't the Genesis or Poser Figures have Genitals built right into them? Do 3D Figures generally not come with Genitals? What is the Reason for this? Is Renderotica the only source providing suitable Genitals for Genesis and Poser Figures? Does DAZ not offer any Genital Products? What kind of Product is it, then?

There is one more Question I'd be interested in asking, after browsing the Forum a bit. Are Adult Images usually created using Daz Studio or Poser, or are other Programs used as well? Are Daz Studio and Poser used for the majority of Adult Images?

I'd be interested to know-looking at the current 3D Market-whether the Adult/Erotic Sector is more of a Niche or a Major Part of the Market. Of all the 3D Images currently out there, do Adult/Erotic Images make up a large portion or just a small Fraction?

Yes

Simply because of religion! Just look at Jewish women who wear wigs to hide their hair, and Muslims with the chador. So, naturally, all religions are in agreement when it comes to genitals; in fact, that is the real reason for the disappearance of adult content.

Hi,

3D characters usually don't have genitals because the vast majority of people working with them simply don't need them, so it makes no sense to add geometry that will never be seen.

Take a character from a video game like GTA or The Witcher, which is by far the most common use case: you'll never see the character's genitals, so there's no point spending time sculpting them. For a male character, a slight bulge in the pants is enough, and for a female character, a simplified chest shape does the job.

In fact, I'd bet that most of the time the character doesn't even have a full body underneath: it's merged with its clothes, for exactly the same reason. Why model legs if all you'll ever see are the pants and shoes?

It's all about optimization, whether for real-time rendering or offline rendering: the less geometry and fewer textures you have in a scene, the fewer resources it takes to render.

As for your second question:

I believe DAZ Studio and Poser are the main platforms for adult 3D content (though you can find some models for Blender too). I think it's partly because they're easier to use than Blender (debatable, that's just my opinion), and partly because the community simply developed that way over time. There's also a strong link with graphic novels and 3D comics: many artists use DAZ and Poser to create them, since these tools let you pose characters and build scenes "quickly" without modeling everything from scratch. A lot of that content is aimed at adults, so it makes sense that the character assets evolved to support it.

Hello guy91600, That sounds a bit too simple to me. I can't quite imagine it being solely because of some Religion. I find Ap3nciler's Answer a bit more plausible. But I don't want to say anything incorrect.

Hello Ap3nciler, I have one more Question regarding your second Answer. In your view, is a large portion of the Content created intended for Adults, or does this represent only a small fraction of the Content? I'm interested in whether Adult content makes up only a small part of the 3D Sector or a larger part of it.

I'm interested in this because I mostly consume Adult Content, so I lack a bit of the overall Picture. Has Adult Content developed solely around Poser and Daz Studio, or does it exist for other 3D Programs as well? Is it because Poser and Daz Studio are so widely used? Do Poser and Daz Studio Assets actually make up a large part of the 3D Landscape, or are other Programs more widely used?

I have a few general Questions now. Are there fewer active Users since the Adult Content was removed? Do Adult Products generally sell better than Non-Adult ones? Is R****rotica currently the only Site for Adult Products?

"I can't quite imagine it being solely because of some Religion."

The payment processors impose censorship worldwide. In addition, censorship in general is stronger in countries like Australia and Germany and Japan, where people are less religious than the US. The reasons for censorship are purely economic. Sometimes it has to do with ads (see the "Adpocalypse") and other times it's because adult products are considered "high risk" and need a specialist payment processor.

From my point of view, and as you already point out yourself, it's very easy to get locked into your own little corner of the world and lose sight of the bigger picture (especially nowadays, with all the algorithms constantly trying to reduce us to content that just ends up going in circles).

But I'm digressing...

I think adult content is just one niche among many, whether in the 3D world or in any other medium (drawing, video, etc.).

Honestly, I don't know if I'm right, but my gut feeling is that adult content creation developed naturally around "easy to use" products like Poser and DAZ, because creating that kind of content generally requires less effort than creating non-adult content.
Far from me the idea of belittling anyone's work, but let's be honest, when you consume adult content, it's less for the originality of the storyline or the staging than for "the result"...

As for content in general, I don't think DAZ and Poser resources make up the majority of 3D content out there, that too is a niche (a significant one, sure, but a niche nonetheless).

You just have to look at other stores, ArtStation for example, where you'll find a lot of 3D resources but very little DAZ/Poser content.
Even here there's a lot of non-DAZ content.

I think software like ZBrush, Maya, Cinema4D, Blender, etc. is proportionally used far more than DAZ or Poser.
Again, that's just my opinion, I don't have figures to back it up, but I'd think that with all the professionals from various industries like film, VFX, video games, that's already a lot of people, and they don't work with DAZ or Poser.

As for how the site's traffic has been affected by the recent changes, I couldn't say, only the admins have the numbers.

What is certain, though, is that sex has always had its audience, even before the internet, so in that sense it'll always remain a lucrative market, I think.
Now, with all the restrictions imposed by payment processors wanting to "impose their own righteousness," it's likely to complicate things quite a bit.

Genitals are available for Daz figures as add ons, just not on the base models that come with the software.  The thing about 3d adult images is that you can learn a lot about figure posing smile.  Not sure there's much market for images (not exactly a shortage of these on the Internet) but reckon the asset creators could have made money before the rule changes.

Any answer at this point is opinion rather than fact.
To my knowledge there is no data on the subject that would lead to a logical conclusion one way or the other.
