Hello, I'm trying to purchase something from a vendor. Currently, there's a 30% discount in his store, and he gave me a code for an additional 10% off. However, the new code isn't working. I'm getting an error that the coupon has already been applied. I'm thinking that as he is giving me 10% discount but because there is 30% in his whole store this code doesn't work as is smaller than sale running in store. Is my thinking right?

Right. Coupons do not stack with store discounts, you automatically get the greater of the two. So if the vendor intends to give you a 40% discount, they will need to create a coupon for 40% off, not ten.
