Do gallery images boost marketplace sales? (CLOSED)

OR: Does seeing something in the gallery often get you to buy something offered in the marketplace?
This is something I've been curious to know for a little while now. I would guess that most who come here are here for the goodies and that's it, but it does seem like the store-gallery relationship here is a bit stronger than similar places.

I don't know if the galleries help, but most of the Daz vendors here could really use a lesson in presentation and description of the said product being sold. I've passed on quite a few products simply because there wasn't a render of a clothing product actually conformed on a G8 character or I got a wiki on the history of the real world product but no information about the Daz product.

LOL - Thanks... You nearly made me spit my drink on my keyboard.
You should see some of the descriptions for 3D models.
"This vehicle has excellent crash test ratings, blah blah blah..."
So yeah, you're absolutely right.
RenderHub does try to help vendors understand this. There's a step-by-step guide in the Learning section with a video.

Straight from that page:

Sat, Feb 24, 2024Haha, glad you got a chuckle out of that but seriously, don't do that, from my own experience it can be a real pain in the butt to clean up!
I would have bought several of that vehicle vendors products if they just said if it was rigged, whats rigged and if it had separate material zones.

Maybe the lead paragraph if people are a little unfamiliar the object being presented, but that would be about it. Knowing what functions and how it functions (and how much needs to be faked or worked around) is as much a help.

From my experience I've purchased products because of other people's renders in the gallery.
I like looking at the artwork created, awesome renders sell products. Awesome products sell more products. Your right not everyone will browse the gallery and just go straight to the marketplace.
Some products I've seen in the marketplace that I've passed by and then purchased it because someone made it look good.
When content creators interact with the community that's a big selling point to.

Yep. That's a big one and can make a huge difference.
(Which is pretty much why RenderHub has so many social features and encourages vendors to use them.)

Mon, Mar 04, 2024That creator-consumer communication is great for both, both here and in general.
As a CC ...
and in relation to my own projects, I can't answer the question. I would have to keep lists and compare them ... and I'm just too cough! lazy cough! cough! ... busy for that
As a gallery visitor ...
I can personally answer the question 100% in the affirmative. OK - maybe it's because I don't like looking through catalogues ... but most of my purchases are based on suggestions in the gallery. Either pictures make me curious about the work of certain CCs - or I am so blown away by the product shown that it ends up directly on my wish list or in my shopping basket.

I am a customer and can assure you that around 90% of my purchasing decisions are based on pictures in the gallery!
