I was thinking of creating an imagine for a wallpaper but i was wondering does the image get auto cropped for different size screens or do you choose where it gets cropped manually? As i dont want to create an image and have the face half chopped out or something like that.

I made a wallpaper at 3840x2160
When you upload your wallpaper it will ask you to choose a focal point. If you choose the head it should focus on that.
I just tested it with mine at 400x400.
It auto crops. I chose the head as a focal point. And the heads in focus.
