I just got an interesting mail from Bono ( https://bono.no/about-bono/ ,which I'm a member in) telling me about Meta using every picture one is posting on fb and instagram, to train its own AI.
Even though the text is in Norwegian, pictures and text to use is in english, to deny the use of your pictures.

They actually had a means of writing to them to opt out at the onset. Of course, if you don't live where you're covered by things like GDPR, they can and often have said "No, we don't care, we're using it anyway." Thank goodness I live in the EU.

I'm not on fb, have an account on insta, but not for postings, and only can hope, that these damned meta-robots don't rob every single page in the internet.

Tue, Jun 18, 2024Yeah, same. I ditched facebook a long time ago, and I'm tempted to drop insta too, whether or not they accept my rejection. Because ultimately, there's no way to ensure that they won't just use it anyway. So few bastions against AI bumping everything out...

Years ago, one of my pictures was used without my permission. And it wasn't me, who found it, but Bono did. Was not much I got, but it was a nice pocket money
No watermark, no copyright sign will protect us, there is only one, don't load up anything ... and that can't be the solution.

More than ever the saying "to live happily, let's live hidden" is relevant.
One thing is certain, you should not publish photos of yourself and members of your family on the internet regardless of the social network or website.
The only thing that can be published without danger is a 3D image or a photo of a landscape ;-(
