Artstation indy developers and nfts Scams (CLOSED)
237Hey folks just to share my experience with artstaion over the years.
I do not post much there and have not been involved with the community since 2019
In 2019 i was approached by an indy developer, I took on a position as concept artist and art director with his project.
I knew it was a risk and accepted the fact I may not get paid for the work involved on the project. This is often the case in any industry.
So I did a little work made some game levels and never got paid because the project never made any real progress like so many others.
No big deal. At the time I was working on my own company developing a game / tech addiction alternative treatment for young people and collaborating with game engines researching tech addiction and online bullying . That's another story as My company launch event was August 2020. Lockdown happens and I went bust.
I recently posted some renders on artstation , As I said I hardly use the account for many reasons. I do not want a job, neither am I a student looking to have a showreel online. (If you want to hire me and see my showreel contact me and I will send a cd rom ) That said I am not looking for work.
Anyway I received 5 emails , some are shown bellow.
1
Hello, My name is - - - - - - - -from ArtStation. I am highly impressed with the concept and quality of your work. I
am interested in purchasing some of your pieces to show my support. Your talent is truly remarkable, and I would
love to add your art to my collection. I look forward to your response. Thank you.
2
I greatly admire your talent. Regarding selling your work. I'm definitely interested. Could you please provide me
with the specific pieces you have available for purchase? I plan on purchasing them in form of NFTs as I'm confident
they'll do well in the NFT marketplace.
3
I've been exploring your artwork and I'm impressed by your talent. I'm currently curating an event and I think your
pieces would be a great fit. If you're interested in showcasing your work, I'd love to discuss further. Please let
me know if this opportunity aligns with your goals and we can schedule a time to talk.
Best regards,

I hope this message reaches you well.I'm interested in discussing a potential collaboration and exhibition
opportunity at my upcoming event. Your unique style and creativity align with my audience's interests. I'd love to
explore ways we can work together and benefit from each other's expertise. Please let me know if you're available to
discuss further.
These are all scams , They will take your work and ask you to pay a fee to turn it into nfts. They pay you in a crypto you can't use and your work gets locked to their platform. That's my general understanding of how this works after reading other peoples experiences.
I will probably close my artstaion account as I is no use to me anyway.

These scams are almost everywhere.
I got exactly the same letter like your first example, but on cara dot app and some, that differ a lot from the usual ones.
It's annoying and boring at the same time.
Do these scammer really think, anyone would fall for this s*it?
