Mountain fire.

I might not be here for a while. The mountain behind my house is on fire and they are evacuating around us as I type this. I'm in the process of watch and wait, and gathering the important stuff like my frozen animal food, our important papers, my laptop, etc. Cross your fingers for us and hope they get this under control!!

Thanks for your well wishes. The PA forestry folks lead the fire fighting, and I lost count of how many companies have been called in on this. They have been dumping water from choppers for the last 2 hours, so thank goodness, it's under control. We've had almost no rain for 2 months, so everything is dry as can be. The winds whipped it up quickly, and they did evacuate the folks closest to the fire. We were under advisement to be ready, but thankfully, things are better. They have said it will take several days to get it all out, and they plan to keep checking for hotspots. We're supposed to get some rain tomorrow, which would really be helpful right now.

Again, thank you. Yes they did! They actually brought in the elite hotshots used for forest fires in the US as well as Native American firefighters from out west. As of this morning, it is 90% contained. No losses of homes or lives. They plan to finish the hot spots and keep an eye on things for a few more days.
We are all very grateful to these selfless folks for saving our mountain forest and our homes. And I appreciate the support from you folks. I'm going to close this thread now because the scary event is over, thank the gods..
