Many of you already know, what happened to me and believe me, I'm very thankful to be able to write these words.
I survived a very hard heart attack, still on recovery and going through a very bad PTSD, not taken serious by many of the doctors here.
PTSD is something, doctors in Norway haven't heard about and if, then it's for soldiers, and not for stupid old women with a heart attack.
Link to something like a blog under my profile here, if you wanna read it.
But it seems, someone is trying to tell me again, to let go.
My external hard drive crashed and everything is gone.
3d stuff from ages, gone forever, cause many of the stores don't exist anymore and people I got stuff as a gift don't live anymore
But much more worse, all the photos from over 20 years, everything is gone.
Well, I'll keep the hd and maybe one day, after we have sold the farm, I can send the hd to a company to recover all my photos. Right now, ways too expensive.
Building up my runtimes again and bombarding you with renders again
So, as long as something or someone up there don't have other plans with me, be aware, render will show up.

Ugh, that sucks. A few years back all 6 of my HDD croaked at the same time lol, so I know how that goes. Also about the other, have bad anxiety attacks sometimes, my doctor don't listen to me and keeps trying to make me try new antidepressants lol. It's hard stuff to deal with.

As if these chemical antidepressants would help. Wishing you all the best and that you'll find someone, willing to listen and help you!

I for one am looking forward to seeing those renders! Hope you find your balance and that your recovery goes well.

To find the balance back will take time, I'm aware of that. And as long as there aren't any miracles waiting for me, I heard from others, that it can take up to one year to come back to "normal" again.
Luckily, to render a picture goes faster

Oh dear - when it rains, it pours ...
I was already worried about your wellbeing, but didn't want to write a PM (yet). Glad you're staying with us all - despite all these !!!##@**##!!! problems
I'm already looking forward to your new pictures! BTW - I only have somewhat weirder projects at the start ... but if you want something, just write me a PM, OK?
All the best ... and don't let it get you down

You can write at any time, question is only, if I'm able to answer right away.

Sorry for everything you're going through. Really wanted to say don't lose that hard drive. Depending on the severity of the damage, at least some of it might be recoverable. I would definitely recommend going with someone professional with data recovery experience even if it's more expensive, than trying to save a few bucks by letting your friend's cousin's room-mate take a whack at it.

I will take care of that hd, too many pictures on it I really don't wanna lose.
You're right, better spend some more than losing all because someone knows someone who could ...

Hello, I want to tell you that even if that disk has stopped working, the data on it is still there and in many cases 100% can be recovered.
I had the same problem a while ago and decided to learn by myself with some programs and I learned and was able to recover more than half of the disk.
If you need my help I can give you more information about what programs you would need and what techniques to use.
First try the free software: RECUVA.

If the disk does turn on you can test it and it will surely recover data, but if the disk does not turn on then a specialized workshop may be necessary.
Recuva is a program from the same creator as Ccleaner and they are integrated, I leave you the link
https://www.ccleaner.com/es-es/recuva/download?srsltid=AfmBOoqStdvwcxFA1pFiFHD-m5XHJCtHzTlDGiAVjm6H2ycYXYiXN8ms

Recuva was the first I tried, but nope, nothing.
So I bought Disk Drill (worth every dime, it's very good) and got a lot from my old external back, where I had my stuff first saved.
But the other hd, my PC won't connect and if, neither Recuva nor Disk Drill are able to connect and if I wanna open a folder or even try to copy a folder, everything freezes and I have to unplug the external.
So it has to go to a company one day and I'll get all my stuff back

Sat, Nov 30, 2024ok ok, it seems that when you connect the disk and everything freezes, I think it could be a power supply problem for the disk, it is not a failure of the information but the disk has some problem with the power that returns to the motherboard and generates a zero,
you could try to connect the disk with another power cable from the PC or even change the data cable and its port.
if it is something that you do not control much, the best thing would be to take it to a store and have them test it, if that were the problem it would be something quick and cheap!

Sat, Nov 30, 2024We have tried that too, even with another PC but had to stop it, cause Disk Drill was counting the time up how long it will take. We stopped it, over 42 years would have been a little bit too long.

Next problem was, there was only 1 broken folder, that one with all my photos, showing a blank file for 1 kb for a usual yellow folder with several gb with photos.
But to let it test is a pretty good idea
at least I will know then, if there is hope

Similar happened to me not too long ago.

Sun, Dec 01, 2024Right, and when the backup from the backup is gone as well ...
On my last PC I had tons of space to keep my stuff, 2 external until one stopped working and I was so stupid to not buying a new one in time for another backup.
This new PC now is almost full and that only because of the programs.
A SSD is expensive as hell (you pay by TB here in Norway and each TB is about 1000 nok) but I have to use SSD, the lifetime of an external HD is just too short.

Damn, that sucks. Plus, I was unaware of your health issues. So I'm sorry to hear on both accounts. I hope your health continues to improve, and I hope you find someone who can help you deal with the ongoing issues.
As far as drives go, I'm paranoid after a crash on a computer years ago. I have backups of backups on multiple drives. I'm planning on buying another external drive to backup ALL my 3D stuff to and keep that disconnected from the computer. I also now have a program to check my drive health. Not sure if thohse actually work, but I guess I'll find out!
I always enjoy your renders and I love your unique characters too!

still searching for help and hopefully will meet someone in 4 days, to end these panic attacks and work out my trust issues.
The doctors told me, my heart is ok now. Well, that's what the last doctor at the heart clinic told me as well and 2 weeks later I had the infarct.
If you have the possibility, buy a SSD instead of a harddrive, cost more, but is ways more safe
Thank you, soon both will show up again, found some friends for them, for even more render ideas

Sun, Dec 01, 2024I think all new PC's will come with a SSD.
*lol* Remember the times, when a PC was huge and heavy and we had floppy disks, place enough for 2 photos or so.
Later we got the discs, now usb sticks and SSD.
What will come next?
Everything only in clouds and monthly subscriptions, and don't you dare to do anything wrong or all your stuff will be lost for ever.
