There is hope 
Beside thousands of files with useless names, and zip files named by the number of files in the folder (from 1 to almost 1000 - you get the picture) I got over 700 zip files named runtime.
Here are 705 to see, cause, as usual I forgot to take a before picture.
Much more zip named "damaged" and sooo much more.
But I have hope to find a lot from my photos and 3d stuff again.

Thu, Jan 23Nope, from the older one, I didn't knew how much was still on there.
Ok, found a lot of garbage so far, and about of 10 products that aren't destroyed.
The 3d stuff isn't the most important one, even though some items will be lost for ever and that is sad.
But it's 3d, nothing real, but photos are memories and I'm so happy that I found a lot that I had deleted years ago from that hd, because I had my backup on another hd.

Thu, Jan 23I kinda know the feeling - dug through a really old HD not too long ago (haven't used it in like 15 years), and the stuff I wanted to hang on to felt special, the stuff I didn't care for anymore was still there, and the time capsule effect was nice but also weird. I was able to salvage a few things that had been copied to other HDs over the years that had since gone bad.

Thu, Jan 23Right, it's a time travel and since I have to open every single runtime it's often a shock, how old the stuff is, but than again, how happy we were with all these simple tools and items.
Time has changed a lot and our expectations are rocket high now.
But 3d is a thing, I really don't wanna go back to the roots *lol*

Sorry to hear of all your drive troubles, it sucks to loose precious data. Always make physical prints of stuff like family photos and anything else precious to you.
I've still not done it, but I told my mother and sister some years back now that I'll have to transfer all their holiday videos onto VHS to preserve them. They rolled her eyes at first due to the insufferable geek that I am, but soon changed their attitude after I pointed out that the DVDs they're currenly sitting on will eventually fail due to data rot, whereas recording them onto VHS tape would preserve them pretty much forever providing they're stored sensibly.

Thu, Jan 23Yeah, it seems that we are overrun by the fast development for all and everything data related.
First floppy disk, ok, more a joke than a help, then CD, USB and Cloud and luckily for people like me, that don't trust a cloud, the ssd.
Tons of CD and DVD, useless, cause I have nothing to play them on.
And about the photos, as soon as I have the most important back, I will do exactly that, get a physical print.

I'm surprised to hear you don't have something to play your CDs and DVDs on. You should be able to pick up a brand new CD/DVD player for around 20 Euros these days. Here in the UK they're so common they even sell them in grocery stores!
Good to hear you'll be doing physical prints, and to be honest I think it's wisest to have both.

Norway always has been expensive, but now it's insane.
Only a little example, my sons needs a small rubber band to fix the gear box. Wouldn't be a problem, if we would have time enough to wait, but we don't.
This little piece cost about 10 Euro in Germany and in Norway we have to pay almost 100 Euro for exactly the same thing. He bought it for 700 nok.
If not necessary I don't buy anything here. I can wait, til I found my new place, somewhere far south, but for sure not here anymore.
