A Moment to Last a Lifetime
3D Render by DClawNothing says 'summer fun' to me like a leisurely family canoe trip down the river, and the Hansen family is doing just that.
They have everything they need in their canoes...food, water, life jackets, and each other. They even brought the family dog along. Somewhere along the way, they'll stop at a sandbar to eat and play, but for now, they're just enjoying the moment.
With Warren already away at college and Luci getting ready to start her senior year of high school, Ed and Anna know that moments like these...where all their children are together...will become more and more scarce. They have this summer weekend together, and they're taking advantage of it. No phones, no devices, no distractions...just the great outdoors and each other.
It's moments like these that Ed and Anna will cherish, and that they hope their children will cherish, too. They hope that the memories their kids will make on a day like this will keep them close to each other even when they all have families of their own and encourage them to make memories like this with their children, too.

Very much like the characters interaction with the environment, dog distracted by mosquitoes while the sons power on up ahead of everyone, son turning around to talk to Anna and daughter pointing out the butterflies while Ed paddles...a wonderful composition, nicely done

Absolutely beautiful moment captured! I think the parents made the right choice, life is so difficult at times. It's easy to be swept away into work, family troubles, illness, kids no longer getting along, etc. Best of luck in the contest! I think you got it.
