Okay, I think there's only about an hour left before the competition ends, so Id better get this written before time runs out!
Honestly I think one of the scariest things anyone can witness is war. Unfortunately, so many countries, including my own, are dealing with it now days. My heart genuinely goes out to everyone who's going through something like that. ⤸

Anyway, let's get back to the actual topic...
THE SHOWER.
Yep. Just that one word. You probably know where this is going.
I found out about this challenge when there were only about two weeks left until the deadline, so I immediately started brainstorming.
What could possibly be terrifying enough? Your sandwich falling face-down on the floor? Or GTA 6 getting delayed AGAIN?

Then I thought about taking a shower. I was home alone and actually needed one anyway, so... why not?
And BOOM. That's when the idea hit me. I got started right away.
Little did I know what kind of nightmare I was getting myself into.

I'd never made wet, soapy hair under running shower water before, and let me tell you... it was a whole new level of pain.
I couldn't find a single decent tutorial online or anywhere on social media, so I just kept messing around, experimenting, breaking things, and trying again until I finally got the result I was happy with.
I might actually make a tutorial about it and post it on my Instagram (zirodesign), because it's a pretty cool technique and could definitely come in handy for some of you!

And because apparently this project wasn't chaotic enough already, there was this one day when I'd been working for HOURS, forgot to save anything, and then the power went out.
Yep. All that progress. Gone.
Had to start over. AGAIN.
And here's the best part: with only THREE DAYS left until the deadline, I decided it was a great idea to rebuild the character AND all the simulations from scratch. XD
Absolutely zero chill. Maximum risk. What could possibly go wrong, right?
Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to read my little project story. I just wanted to share some of the chaos behind the scenes with you guys.
Wishing all the amazing artists participating here the best of luck. Can't wait to see what you've all come up with! ⤸

Very nice work, especially on the soapy wet hair, not to mention the fear factor, good luck in the contest.

Great render. Do you use geonodes for water and soap bubble effects?

Thanks man! Ngl I tried everything XD Even the old Blender snow add-on for the foam texture, but in the end the base shape came from a sim, a mix of FLIP Fluids and other stuff. The shader and wet/foam look is a giant pile of nodes I get lost in myself, but hey it works. Flying water droplets are geonodes. Basically a bit of every method, threw it all in and prayed XD Might post a tutorial or just drop the material file for download. Appreciate you stopping by!

Think it was all worth it. The scene really works and you have one more tool in your tool box.
You should make that tutorial, just to look back on when you forget and need to use it again some day, or is that just me. Ha Ha
Well done and good luck.

Haha nah it’s not just you, I forget my own setups like two days after finishing them. Past me always leaves zero notes and then present me has to suffer. But yeah, it was 100% worth the pain XD Tutorial’s coming soon, I’ll drop it on my Instagram (zirodesign) so future me can finally stop crying over soapy hair. Thanks Sam, appreciate it!

Thanks for that, it is good to know it's not just me. Sometimes I feel like all of this is beyond me. I often have to go back and relearn things that I thought I had down. Some of that's because of my memory but some of it comes from how fast Blender progresses. In my area I am the only one I know working with Blender, and so I have no one offline to bounce things off of.
That often leaves me thinking, it's me.

I genuinely loved it, because it was exactly what I had always imagined. It was everything I had envisioned.
