Underground Shenanigans
3D Render by Design HereticSomething I made for RenderHub Graffiti contest some time ago.
The scene is set in an underground drain collector in an alternative universe Manhattan.
Here I used a popular camera shot in cinema where we are watching from a distance protagonist who is watching from a distance the main focus of the scene. This technique is great for wide shots and can effectively depict large spaces. I went a bit further with this one. As viewers we are watching Miles Morales, who is, in turn, watching his freshly made graffiti, while characters from graffiti are watching RenderHub graffiti that they ''made''.
The story of this artwork is told by the depth of composition and by its content.
here we see a young and educated Afro-American (Spiderman Miles Morales) who got inspired by the cathedral-like space of a drainage collector to make his version of Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. Supported by his spider friends from another universes he cooperates with his adversary dr Octopus to make Renderhub graffiti in NU school style.
Composition depth is separated by light where we see alternating shaded and lit are from foreground, and middle, to graffiti wall and drain pipes, and manhole exit.
The scene is off-set from right to left where I used visually dead space to make the scene framing less perfect and more organic or realistic.
