From the Iliad by Homer. In the Iliad Patroclus was actually an older man than the young head strong Achilles, who in an attempt to rally the men, fought the Trojans off. Disobeying Achilles direct order, Patroclus fought the Tojans all the way back to the city gates, where he was felled by a spear and killed by Hector.
