3D Render by dwindtThis must have been 1 of my most enthusiastic renders I have ever done. This was before my pc started dying on me. It took ages setting up. Then it took ages to comply with the brief as it was actually for a PS challenge.
The photo for the brief was the weird contraption in the right-side background. You can see a portion of whatever the contraption is, has been cut up for my road signal light. The material of the "whatever", was sectioned up and used to mend the robot bike rider together. He was then put onto an alpha plain and rendered in the 3D scene. He is objecting to the robot's robot dog who has just leaked a puddle of oil on his steampunk motorcycle rear tire. I used the same material that I created the steampunk motorcycle rider to make a seamless pattern and uv'd the textures to the robot with the dogs mesh, as well as the dog's mesh.
Anyway, no need to explain. It's all in the render.

Oh, there's some of the content I made and lost when my pc got ill. The other motorcycle rider is the Tinman from Oz. I modelled the suit for him.

Mon, Mar 18, 2024Thanks you so much MarissKo.
My pc is an 8 core 64 bit i7; 3.4GHz with 1070ti and DDR3 8gigs of ram. Thing is, it so old, the components are obsolete. The motherboard only has 2 ram slots. If I could get my hands on enough ram, this pc still has considerable punch. I can't find the ram that I need. If I could find 32gigs, I'd be happy but it's so expensive, I would prefer to put that money into a new system. Until then, I'll busy myself with small renders. Thing is, if I can't pack my scene with the items I wish, I loose interest.
I'll keep myself busy with modelling and texturing meshes.

Fantastic scene. Lots going on.
Regarding Your pc and DDR3 ram If your motherboard is the one I think then you could only put 8gig in each slot due to a limit with the motherboard. You may be maxed out at 16 gig but that's better than the 8. DDR3 is pretty cheap over here and available. I think I even have some kicking about from an old rig I stripped down. If I can find a pair of 8 gig sticks (16 total) would it be of use to you?
Figure out post one way or another

Mon, Mar 18, 2024You're a star. Thanks, Bonj. I'll definitely keep that in mind. I found a 8gig in S.A. for just short of $200. That's R3 500 for me. Bit to steep for my likings. I'd rather put that towards my new system later on in the years. That's if I can find R45k. Thats more or less what it'll cost here but it'll have some beef. If that doesn't materialize, I'll give a shout. Thanks.

Mon, Mar 18, 2024Those prices are crazy.. 16 gig ddr3 is around 25 quid here for standard and the 3200MHz around 40.
I looked up posting and it's only about 20 quid, the equivalent of 2 or 3 pint's now day's. I will dig out that memory and send it snail mail if it keeps your rig ticking over a while longer. You would need to check to see if you get charged duty at customs tho

Tue, Mar 19, 2024Thanks so much bonj, but until my new system materializes, I'll just concentrate on texturing and small renders...and the new challenge. This one is going to produce some amazing renders. It's going to be very interesting to watch. Have any ideas. I'm at a loss.
